How would shutting down the business stop murders at the building? Are they expecting the building to be demolished too?

I pulled this up on a map and there's a Sonic less than a mile from this station. I think we all know how this will turn out.

This could turn into a high octane situation very soon.

That's funny, but unfortunately that probably is how it would turn out.

It's impossible for a person to say or post "low IQ" without they, themself, coming across as not having the highest IQ.

Seriously, dude, you sound like you're 12!

Why would anybody have a problem with this? At least put the store owner on notice. Good for them.
Who knew that a store selling gas and junk food would cause the locals to shoot each other.

This is legitimately the first time I’ve heard it suggested that the government force a business to close because of repeated crime, except for a bar or night club that seems to always attract trouble. But even then, all the government can do is revoke the bar’s liquor license.

I know right? We have to get these gas stations to think about their role in making sure the violent crime goes down

There are many different things that a gas station can do to become less dangerous.

- Enforce "no loitering" and make it a priority

- upgrade your camera system or put up a "SMILE, YOU'RE ON CAMERA" sign

- get better lighting

My coworker who used to play bball at Tulane and UWF, and professionally in China told me that they are shutting down this gym/b-ball court here in Pensacola for the rest of the year after this happened yesterday. He coaches kids around here, and was there when it happened. Knew the 21 year old, saw him laying dead on the ground.

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Two people are dead and five others injured after a shooting in Pensacola Sunday night.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, a drive-by shooting took place outside the Wedgewood Community Center on Wagner Road during a men's basketball league game just before 8 p.m.

Sheriff Chip Simmons held a press conference Monday morning saying men ages 21 and 24 were killed. Five other people -- including an 11-year-old -- were shot and hospitalized.

Three shooters are responsible for the shooting, according to Sheriff Simmons.

Why don’t we just put mandatory curfews on the people who are actually doing the shooting/murders?

WHOEVER THAT IS?

"They" can only come out from dawn to dusk.

Dude in the yellow shirt talking about integrity, LOL. Sir if you had an integrity you would tell the truth and start addressing the people doing the killing. Not the store and owners. But why do that when you can just blame it on some made up BS.

Sure, but none of those things (or lack thereof) provide a legal basis for the government to shut the gas station down. And do you know for a fact that the gas station doesn’t already have those things?

Maybe the local police should step up patrols in the area

ETA: and I wouldn’t blame a cashier for turning a blind eye to loitering. You think they want to go out into a parking lot at night to ask homeless guys or gang bangers to leave? Or call the cops and risk one of those criminals coming back later looking for the cashier in retaliation for calling the cops on them?

Chances are that the owner is white or a non-black minority and they want them forced out of the area so a black owned business can take over.

Speak your truth, Mr. Stokes. Let’s get some government involvement in the gas station business. Maybe reach some youths. Perhaps a community happy hour where ICEEs and Doritos are shared for a discounted price to youths over SLAM poetry?
