Multiple people are wounded after a shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington, police confirm.

The Mansfield ISD has confirmed in a letter to parents that police are investigating an active shooter situation at the high school.

The letter goes on to add that students and staff are currently locked in their classrooms/offices and no visitors are being permitted at this time.

An inactive shooting is so boring.

I always think this is strange.

We got in a bus accident back when I was in elementary school and they had to send letters to the parents. but back then it was through actual mail so if you didnt tell your parents rt away they found out some days later.

So i just feel like sending a letter to parents while there is an active shooter is a strange statement. Like thats going to do anything.

The smart policy is run, hide, fight

It’s best to get out of there. Skipping straight to hide and making the policy hide, hide, hide increases the chance of death.

fricking policy is in response to drive-bys in LA, not a fricking on site attacker that is in the fricking building.

I think a lot of parents would most definitely want to go get their children when an active shooter is in their school regardless of potential danger to themselves.

Prescription meds, participation awards and not being held responsible for anything or being told no when they were kids.

I agree completely but I also dont know a very good solution. If it's not known where the shooters location is then the evacuation of students and staff could lead them to slaughter.

If they’re going to be sitting ducks in a classroom, then they need to be able to at least defend themselves. Obviously every teacher having a gun in their classroom, isn’t the best idea, as I sure as hell wouldn’t want my life depending on some of these teachers, and how they shoot guns. I do think something should be looked into allowing teachers that want to have a gun in their classrooms, being allowed to though.

Just looked up demographics

School is 75% Mexican and black

Greatly reduces chances this is a mentally ill shooter

Increases chance it is gang related or targeted shooting

New schools require Classroom locks require a key from outside and have anti-breach devices on inside. You literally have to shoot the locks and hinges out to get in. Dont know the school and its age but texas ed design codes mandate this for past 10 or so yrs.
