I'm not sure about "had it made during slavery," but I'm also not sure they had it much better before or after.

Black people really do have my sympathy. Fewer of their problems are inflicted by whitey than some people imagine, but fewer are also self-inflicted than some people imagine.

So becoming a slave was some type of gift because Africa sucks?

In that case, lets just start it up again...

I dont see how that is relevant to the life of slave in the early 1800s. Which is what this thread is about.

I understand why you don't want to answer the question

continue discussing what happened 200 years ago. I can't relate to anything in the 1800's so I will exit this thread

You know why chitlins are a popular food especially amongst black people (I know black people who say it makes them sick just to smell them being cooked and there is one white dude I know who loves them, but it is more popular with black people)?

During slavery the slaves use to get fed the scraps. About the only thing that isn't used from a pig is eye balls and assholes, but their intestines are not ideal (but some people like it)..

The slave owners saved money by feeding slaves scraps from whatever they were eating.

Slaves were someone's property. Not friend, co-worker, family member, etc.. Someone owned them like you do a car. You can treat your car however. You can wash it, not wash it. You don't like to pay too much for fuel to make it go so you look for the cheapest. If you don't want it anymore you can sell it.. Get a new one.

And the reason a lot of them went back after they were freed was because they didn't receive any type of education and had no idea what to do.

Not about trying to minimize. Its about getting reality out there. It wasnt as bad or widespread as we're led to believe.

But you used a completely skewed statistic, so either you aren't aware of the actual reality or you chose to skew it on purpose to promote an agenda.

While not every free household owned a slave very few in the South that had the means did not.

I understand the desire to make chattel slavery in the US not as bad as it was but that is just as disingenuous as those trying to suggest it is just as bad today.

We could have had a new European homeland. A paradise.

I hate that I finished reading through this thread. Some of the takes in here are absolutely mind boggling.
