Micheal Osterholm said it’s like stopping the ducking wind. Vaccine or herd immunity. That’s it. All the rest is just about slowing down the inevitable

The virus mainly affects older people. Older people don't get out as much, and even less so during the outbreak. They still come on contact with family members, delivery people, etc. It's not like the act of staying home causes them to get it.

Eh, I am no fan of how these lockdowns are progressing, but that's to be expected. There's going to be an enormous sample bias looking at hospitalizations.
Think of it like this:
- Most of the population is abiding by a lockdown
- The population that is not following the lockdowns or that is deemed essential and is still out and about working will very much tend to be on the younger and healthier side of things
- They will catch it and either be asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic
- They will spread it to friends and family who are following lockdowns
- Some of those friends and family will be more acutely vulnerable than those who are out and about
- That will be the population that is presenting to hospitals with severe cases

Are they sheltering at home because they have underlying conditions and are more susceptible to catching it?
Your immune system isn't just going to magically tank during a few week shutdown if it didn't have issues pre-shutdown.

More cases from staying home. Staying home kills. That’s how the experts have been extrapolating data from very small data sources, so I will do the same

It seems pretty obvious to me. NYC is a vertical jungle. AC ventilation is shared by many people in vertical high rises. They share the same air. It's already been proven that Covid travels via this way.
It's not like a suburb where you have your own AC unit which is only circulating the air you are breathing.
Doesn't seem like it should be that unexpected for a city built like NYC, but then again what do I know.

Hell, Italy is back up and running now. People have gone back to work and school. I wish we were still “two weeks behind Italy”. Funny how that narrative stopped
