You sound like a selfish douche who has a great girl, but want your "freedom". Do her a favor and end it.

You are either afraid of commitment or gay. You decide.

Well, enjoy your hedonism, brother. I'll do my best to mitigate such things.

I don't know about that, but I can't just quit and ride out life with no worries about the future beyond my mortality. Nihilism is boring and pointless

I wish I had advice to give to the OP, but all the good stuff has been said. Good luck with your decision, however it may go.

If that's your mindset, then your advice is completely rational. If life has no meaning, then engage in mindless hedonism.

I still want to believe life has meaning, but at the moment, I cannot help but feel that my life has no meaning.

i guess i should clarify, the only meaning of life is what YOU ascribe to it

in terms of having a family or a more stable society, i just do not see much motivation behind taking responsibility for something that we do not have authority over

I seek the means to have authority, I guess. I don't have any misconceptions about being able to exert it at large, but I do think I can make things happen within a more localized context.

sure. but that requires entertaining an adult for the rest of your life and if you fail, she can take your house, dog, kids. etc.

i wish you luck, but im just checking out of that fantasy. especially in a society where women no longer need men for economic security or emotional support

for men, well at least for me, happiness comes from the absence of dependency and the freedom from

I suppose you pricks are perfect, well-adjusted angels, and have always been sure of every single thing in your lives, and have never had internal struggles with relationships. Congrats. Some of us are humans and don't have it all figured out.

I've admitted several times in this thread that I have commitment issues, and that I am a bit indecisive. I treat her very well. Its only been 5 months. I've been very honest with her from the get go. She isn't ignorant to my feelings on this.

No, did you read somewhere in my post that it was one of my main gripes?

I am an active person, and running, and exercising is an important part of my life. I think it'd be cool if that could turn into something we could enjoy together. You conveniently left off the part of that statement where I said that I understood that not everyone love running and exercising, and that she'd probably be open to going on runs with me. I've never pressured her to do anything like that, and I never will. Some of you are quite self-righteous, huh?

Your feelings and actions are completely normal. Ignore those guys

I really feel like you ‘want’ to end this, but the ‘what ifs’ are holding you back.. I’m telling you man, this more than likely isn’t going to work out. Wish you the best though, because it’s tough

She's understanding. Her reaction isn't negative, at least outwardly. She doesn't mind working through issues like that with me. She just wants me to be happy.

I found a woman who loves me, puts up with me, likes the same things I do, and basically lets me call the shots.

I put a ring on it. She isnt an OT 8+, but neither am I, and finding someone who loves you and isn't completely self absorbed in today's society is gold.

It doesn't seem like you're mature enough for a real relationship if you're "missing being single" with that in front of you. This isn't meant as a knock- just my perception. I was the same way until very recently.

Rocket, I’m just curious, how old are you and what’s your marital history if you don’t mind me asking

Not trying to flame or anything, genuinely curious
