Man who cannot read is harassed by cashier
These scenarios are based off real life stories that are provided to ABC
The good people of jasper, AL were very kind in the video, but very sad that people cannot understand a situation where somebody maybe never got chance to learn to read

Half of Jasper can't read. It literally could have been them.
And 100% of them would have done nothing if it were a black customer. Fact.

Sadly, there are people that make fun of people with disabilities.

That show is not very realistic. The antagonizers back down too easily to anyone who stands up to them. In real life they would be a lot more hostile.

That was a rather sweet girl

Not paying attention to the curriculum of 2nd grade isn't a disability. It's just a bad decision.

Every single person had a illiterate relative or was a teacher who has first hand experience. I thought that was the irony.
Also, look at cities like Baltimore with incredibly high illiteracy rates.

There was a deaf girl who worked with us in my last job. For some reason the staff found it acceptable to make jokes about it. Given her other failings as an employee, her disability should have been the last thing the focused on.
Never sat well with me. They made the mistaje of doing it in a meeting. Poor girl was clearly mortified and playing along.
I chose that moment to tell every embarrassing thing I knew about those sitting in the meeting. It was awkward, it was quiet. It ended.
She thanked me privately a few days later. And I realized being an a-hole with a tongue and wit like a razor isn't always a bad thing.
You never target someone's disability. Except Oweo. Ironsides can get two flat tires.

It's no surprise that a bunch of people in Alabama have adult relatives who can't read, but it is always nice to see people jump in when these situations arise.

Holy crap. I actually know that teacher at the end of the clip, though not real well. She was good friends with one of my mom's friends.

From her actions during this scenario, she appears to be an extremely gracious human being

That's bullshite, the show keeps going to the South to try to find racism. In another episode they staged a black guy having lunch with two white kids in Mississippi. They then had a racist white actor act suspicious of why the white kids were with a black guy.
In each scene the regular white people in the restaurant were appalled with the white actor. Many confronted the racist actor directly.
I think the show has been surprised by what they find in the south. They have deliberately tried to set the stage for racism and have found the opposite.
Black guy with two white kids episode.
