If you adopt a dog, you should treat it as a member of the family, not leave it to die. It's not hard to pack the dog in the car with you while leaving.
These people tried to pack up their entire lives in less than an hour because of this flood. They did what they could. At least they got the animal to dry land and left it on a well-traveled road where someone with better means could care for it. At least they gave the animal that courtesy. I won't judge them for it. It's time to grow up, Peter Pan. The world isn't perfect. We just do what we can to make the best of it.

Leave a few material things behind that can easily be replaced and take the dog. Valuing some clothes and material possessions over your dog is ridiculous.

This.
OP has no idea what these people had to go through to make such a decision. I suppose the OP would leave a child or a spouse behind to save a dog?

You got an ark we don't know about?

Just wondering why you don't miss a chance to remind everyone of your stance on pets. I assumed you were either molested by a puppy as a child or caught your wife with the dog and a jar of peanut butter when you came home early from work one day.
Those are the only two reasons. It couldn't be anything else. Which one was it? Huh? huh? huh?

Material possessions like baby formula? Diapers? Medicine? Food? Clean Water? First aid kit? Flashlight? Batteries? They aren't going to the Hilton for a few days. Some of those people were stranded for almost two days. They can't get back to their homes. Their jobs are most likely gone, as are their homes. Do you think they just WANTED to give up the dog or cat? That they were itching at the first opportunity to unload the mangy scoundrel? These people are fricking desperate. Can you imagine what these people are going through right now?! It's unbelievable.

Anyone who leaves an animal that relies on them tied up to a tree or sign to die is a cruel person and should be found guilty of animal cruelty. Only trash treat their animals like disposable things. I'm not surprised at all this happened in Baker, where the majority of dogs are either taught to fight or abused. Bunch of sick twisted people in North BR
