It looks like they were shooting the an approach to 11 and without looking at the notams the ILS and RNAV minimums are 250’ I believe.

I guess 500 is the localizer approach.

Imagine having to execute a go-around at 500' and then inform everyone aboard that you were taking them to Shreveport instead of wherever they actually wanted to be.
Shreveport was the correct destination. The pilot f'cked up...bigly and is probably out-of-a-job by now.

Damn. So it was originally supposed to be Dallas to Shreveport, and that's what they ultimately did, but they inserted a random trip to MSY in there? And almost landed at that?
ETA this is what happens when people rely too much on computer programs.

FAA should investigate their fatigue management system. Pilot was probably just plain tuckered out.

Poor little guy runs through that front door at Chuck-E-Cheese and it's wide open throttle all the way to the crash. They're only this age once though.

Family member was on the plane. Couldn’t land because of weather. Diverted to Shreveport to refuel

I haven't read up on this particular instance, but there's an almost 0% chance this is what happened.

Without WENUP, correct
They have a bunch of construction and lights out so I believe the minimums are actually higher than published.

Incorrect. The plane's actual destination was Shreveport. Apparently somebody (the pilot-in-command) in the cockpit wasn't paying attention so the plane ended up (most likely on final approach given the altitude) to MSY before the PIC realized the mistak
This makes no sense. I believe flight data is updated based on actual location which is why it says SHV. Why would then then head to MSY later?
Also is there actual flights between Dallas and SHV?? What is it a 10 min flight?
Also if you look at the flight history, every day that flight is from Dallas to MSY. And the flight history says today flight was diverted.

How is that possible?

No, AA isn’t flying 319s Dfw-shv and AA2157 is a flight number used in Dfw-Msy flights.
Alternates (diversion) spots are based on a number of things: tow-bar availability, airstairs, personal, etc. You can’t just drop a mainline aircraft at an airport that only has equipment and staff for CRJs.
I was flying home Dfw-Msy and a storm just appeared on top of MSY as we were beginning our descent and we diverted to IAH. Was it the the nearest airport, not at all but was is it the nearest that could handle a 321 and 200+ pax, yeah. And the alternates are in the flight release before the plane even pushes back from the origin gate, so the pilots know where to divert in case a safe landing at the destination is not assured.

Coworker was coming in from business trip. Sent email saying same thing warning he might get in late by the time they leave Shreveport and to not expect him at 7am in office.
