God answers many questions in Scripture but there are somethings He doesn’t expound on. Like His Triune nature, the Godhead. So there remains some mystery. But this makes complete sense when we understand that we are finite being comprehending an infinite God.

Why is this a problem? Evolution is not anathema to the Church.

This. It sounds like someone can’t handle the actual truth.

Get out a Bible and start reading it. Genesis explains it all. Pretty telling this wasn’t your first option for someone who grew up in the Catholic Church.

How do you explain God creating the Universe?

Seems like this is about a good a way as any:

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
quote:

He wants to know why God made them.

This may be useful:

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Too bad they don't let the Catholics read the Bible for themselves. I'm not even Christian, and I can get behind those verses.

I did tell him that it was a good question and I didn’t know. But it got me really thinking and I am interested in the answer myself.

Just tell him it’s very likely that God isn’t real, and was only created so that people would be able to accept death better. God is the easiest answer to a very complicated universe.

While you’re trying to explain the great mysteries of the universe and the glory of God to your kid, your wife is texting her old boyfriend.
