Same, except mine was only there to coach cheerleaders. Ive been a fan of other cultures and traveling since I was a little kid so I basically taught her geography. She didn't like me much.
He and I got along pretty well actually. He had a nick name for me “Bon Jovi” because he said I looked exactly like him, even though I and my classmates didn’t think so. It was an easy A, so I wasn’t complaining. He looked and sounded like Will Ferrell’s impression of George W Bush. Very nice guy, but he was two bricks short of a load.

What is the average American worse at answering? Questions about basic geography? Questions about basic American history and government?
Probably a push.
I know a recent college grad who could not even name the 3 branches of the federal government. And this is someone who made really good grades.
The US just doesn’t value teaching these things. Hell Im fairly certain the federal government really doesn’t want us tobubdersyand how the govt is supposed to work.

How does that happen when we have Google on our phones?
PHT ladies and gentlemen. Another one of those people that claims to be educated while looking down their nose at the rest of the country

American students are indoctrinated, not educated.

Fun Fact: FKA just hired the administrator behind SNHU’s massive expansion into online classes and distances learning. LSU has less than 800 online students compared to SNHU which had 100,000 take at least one course over the past three years.

Loved this part from the article above from a distance learning expert after reading the OP:
FKA’s goal is to bring online enrollment up to 10,000 over the next decade. But they think they won’t impact the value of a degree.
Suuuuure.

But she did list some pitfalls other institutions have encountered when expanding their online presence, including not maintaining standards to ensure quality and consistency, not having resources in place (including personnel) that can be scaled for growth, and focusing more on recruitment than on the student experience.

I had a Geography professor at LSU do something similar. Literally had to go to his office and prove him he was wrong.

Do people take online degrees seriously. Its like a GED

It sounds like the professor had been used to making points off for the country of Africa.

It depends. For continuing education and certifications that help advance your career, they can be useful. For these, you will probably go to a more established academic institution's online classes.
For a basic degree in Sociology from a place that advertises on TV, it is probably a waste of money.

The difference with how LSU will be handling this is that the online courses are still being taught by in-house faculty/instructors/adjuncts that are lecturing to a B&M classroom too.
SNHU just went the DeVry route...
