Jeff Boomhauer is now WOKE. He needs to be removed and Tigerdoc needs to be added, unless I missed him.

All 27 of the straight white kids on campus should show up and self identify as a student of color.

I mean, if we consider the fact that white light is a combination of all the colors, isn't "white" then the ultimate definition of "color"?

"People of color" is such a dumbass phrase. White is a color, or did they change that like they made Pluto a "dwarf planet"?

So if all the whites just "self-identify" as colored they can walk?

There's got to be more to this. I feel like I see articles like this from time to time and they just aren't putting all the facts out there. Like they were going to cancel all graduations but then certain groups said they wanted their and other groups said no thanks.

St. Olaf College, a Minnesota school, says it will host graduation ceremonies for minority students only this year amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

One way to look at this is that St. Olaf college doesn’t care about white people. Another way to look at it is that St. Olaf doesn’t give a shite about the health of its minority and gay students.

ETA: nvm it’s just online, St. Olaf hates whitey

I'm guessing this is some sort of student organization, the majority of it's membership comprised of the aforementioned individuals, who have decided to host its own graduation of some sort.

I know that a graduation ceremony is just the pomp and circumstance which accompanies the real achievement - Completing the classwork required to earn the credits for a degree. For many - The ceremony itself is no big deal as it's merely a traditional rite of passage and stepping stone in a logical progression.

On the other hand - I would think there are students out there of many races and gender identities who are disappointed they will not be able to have their day of pomp and circumstance.... ESPECIALLY if the road to get to that point has been more difficult than average. If you were the first in your family to earn a degree, for example.

As far as the LGBQT angle? It's not as clear to me how it fits in. Perhaps if the student's family had rejected, demeaned or abused in some way because of that person's orientation... A graduation ceremony could provide some sort of cathartic validation? Taking part in that rite of passage after people close to them had them believe they weren't good enough to do so?

For some - Not getting to walk across a stage would be a big deal. Personally - My parents about drove me crazy that week. At the time - I'm pretty sure I'd have been more upset about missing out on the parties that followed. In retrospect - I'm glad I had my day of pomp and circumstance.

The only sites reporting this are right-wing sites. Congrats on being manipulated. Turns out your not as smart as you think you are.

This is an obvious attempt not to include them in the general student ceremonies.

I expect they will be compensated in some way
