37 here. More focused than ever before. Building a family. Building a business. Staying healthy. Making money and spending money (responsibly).

I anticipate the next 10 years to be fun.

38 and running on 4 hours of sleep after getting stitches for a chin wound last night playing pickup basketball with a bunch of 20-somethings. Doesn't matter, won most of the games, will be back out there next week.

At this age, you aren’t young and you aren’t old. This age is what you decide it to be. If you are in this age range, I encourage you to perceive yourself as being 10 years younger than what you are. Be active, take chances, push yourself.

I'm a little older than this age range, but have also perceived myself to be about 10 years younger than I am. I stay active. Someone sent me a photo of a recent high school reunion that I could not attend. I showed it to a couple of people. Their reaction was along the lines of: "You look ten years younger than those people." I also cut way back on drinking in the past year, and that has made quite a difference, as well.

Checks out. At 45, I was in the best shape of my life. Wheels came off at 48.

Lift weights. Do cardio. (I could do more cardio)

I just got back from a golf trip with a bunch of guys my age. 72 holes in 2 days.

My back was a little tight from all the swings, but man, the group thread with these guys. They were fricking dead. I was largely ok. I am not trying to brag, but just prove a point that our our age, it is imperative that you exercise.

Old you will thank yourself when you can take a shite without a handrail.

Pay attention to this man. He knows of what he speaks. Take the credit cards away from your wife and control the money. Otherwise, she will spend you into oblivion. I learned that lesson too late. Now she has to ask me for money to buy a tank of gas.

Slowly work up to it. Create a routine of cardio, strength, stretching, and agility training. Start with very light workouts with sufficient rest days in between. Once you establish a foundation then start slowly ramping up the frequency, length, and intensity of the workouts and start simulating the movements of pickleball into your workout.

When you feel sufficiently “in shape” then play a game, but let your partner know you’re going to start at a low intensity and probably won’t “last long.” See how you feel after the first session and then start ramping up from there.

Consistently keeping at it with the plan of achieving incremental progress over several weeks/a few months is the key. Doesn’t guarantee you won’t get injured, but it’s the best plan, and much better than just going in “cold” and playing until you exhaust or hurt yourself.

Early 50's and I always heard this growing up " You are as old as you feel" and it makes perfect sense now. Went surfing for 4 hours yesterday with my 27 year old and 25 year old sons and had a blast. Stopped for lunch after. Will I be alittle sore tomorrow probably but age is just a number. Take care of your body and enjoy life and the rest will take of itself.
