re: What happened to House and this defense in one year?
Posted by PacWilly on 1/3/24 at 2:04 pm
Talent was down and House could have been a better playcaller, but I believe our primary issue was our position coaches were not good technical teachers.
Even with bad scheme and good fundamentals, we would have had some stops. Our players didn't look like they knew what they were doing....
re: Kelly “Obviously we’ve got to make some decisions on offense, then a full evaluation of”

I am very critical of the defensive staff, but it is possible that House is not the problem and the real problem is with the position coaches. It doesn't matter who's calling plays if the players don't know technique. An overhaul of all the defensive position coaches would be welcome at this point...
re: What percentage of the blame do you put on the players ability vs the coaching staff?
Posted by PacWilly on 1/2/24 at 10:55 am
100% Coaches/0% Players
Our coaches don't know how to coach defense. We have better talent than what we are witnessing. Our talent is down, but that is not the primary problem.
We couldn't stop Arkansas....Grambling moved the ball on us at will for a quarter and a half....

re: Rando Topic of the day. Tecmo Bowl OG’s favorite teams and players.

San Francisco with the crossing route over the middle was unstoppable. Even if defense called the same play, you could call that play, throw into the defense and the pass would complete for 7 yard’s minimum without fail. Defense calls the play, best defender on that receiver, he’d still catch it. ...
re: Who is your favorite LSU FB player ever?
Posted by PacWilly on 8/1/23 at 7:43 pm
Kevin Faulk. He was special with the ball in his hands. A complete back. He had the best receiving hands on the team catching out of the backfield. Returned punts and kickoffs.

re: Joe Burrow Injured - carted off the field today - maybe calf strain being reported

His calf had a sleeve on it before he went down. I’m wondering if that leg was already giving him soreness and he tried to play through it. ...
re: How to shut up barking dog next door
Posted by PacWilly on 7/25/23 at 6:48 pm
I’ve used one of these before. Had a dog on the property line that kept me up all night. Dog started waking up kids. talked to neighbor and they never did anything about it.
I hung one of these within 15 feet of the dog pen on the property line. Barking stopped, but that poor dog was whimperi...

re: Hoka Clifton 9 is out

Had a pair of Clifton 8 that caused so much arch pain and blisters I had to return them after just 25 miles. Hokas are not for everyone. Good luck with that.
I’ve had mizunos, new balance, ASICS, brooks. I’ve liked some more than others but Hokas were the only ones I couldn’t wear due to actu...

re: Honest question: if this was your son acting like this, how would you punish him?

A beating wouldn’t be enough. He’d be cut off and I’d make him earn his way into the family again. Start with apologizing to that teacher and that class. He’d be doing chores at that school. No car. Early curfews until further notice. Only school, church and family events. He’d have to convin...

re: Should Nussmeier start the Citrus Bowl?
Posted by PacWilly on 12/6/22 at 9:50 am
Next year is next year. Kelly knows what his QBs can do. You start the QB that gives you the best chance to win the bowl game. I think Kelly owes the team that. If you are a senior on this team, you want to win the game. I would be highly ticked if I was a player and felt like my coach was mail...

Putter switch from mallet to blade
Posted by PacWilly on 10/20/22 at 12:38 pm
I switched from an Odyssey Stroke lab mallet type putter to a Ping Anser 2 blade style putter. This has made a huge difference in judging distance. For some reason, I am also able to putt “on line” more consistently too so my alignment has actually improved, which was a surprise. I have not chang...
