I read they recently released the video of the incident, which might have prompted this, but I haven't seen it.

KA will just be another victim of the white man's institutionalized racist system. Its designed top to bottom to lock up promising young men like Karmelo Anthony.
Already talking the shite on FB..

Even if it was self defense, the system was not set up for you to get a fair trial, especially when the person who was killed (justifiably or not) was white.
My response with no comeback yet...

If what you say is true... Then why do Black people try to prove it everyday? If I were Black I would try my best to stay away from the court system... But it seems they a drawn to it like a moth to a flame...

What is the normal protocol on being out on bond when indicted for first degree murder?

They let some media see it, but they haven’t actually released the video. Also, it’s taken from very far away.

Grand Jury saw the video, I'm sure.

I didnt think texas had 1st degree murder
their statute defines it as Capital Murder and Murder.
And their Capital Murder statute is actually shockingly limited in what actually constitutes capital murder

I am not a lawyer.. But why go with 1st degree when it would be a slam dunk for 2nd degree...
He could be found not guilty and there would be no riots and everyone could say he went to trial and was judged by his peers...

All it takes in one juror to let him off. I bet it happens.
It won't be just one juror. It will be a handful playing a certain card on the others until they submit.
Im about 50/50 on whether or not we see justice here, unless there is some evidence that appears that we are not privy to.

In Texas, first-degree murder is typically punished by a prison sentence of between 5 to 99 years, with the possibility of parole. Capital Murder is punishable by life in prison with the possibility of a death sentence.
Is life w/out parole part of the life sentence, automatically, or does it vary in some way?

I expected nothing less from my fellow Collin County citizens, which is where I'm sitting having a p-chop right the frick now.
Do NOT frick around in my neighborhood or you WILL find out.
America
Edited to add: 1st Degree MURDER carries a maximum sentence of life in the notorious TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS (TDC) without the possibility of parole - we are not fricking around in Collin County and this fricking shitbitch will receive it.
AIN'T NO frickING PLEA BARGAIN
Mark my words.

It ain't the Court - it's the citizens who decide that piece of shite's fate.
And there will be NO MERCY.

So the jury? I believe in a rehabilitative criminal justice system, especially for juvenile 1st offenders of crimes that don’t involve mass casualties. It’s better for society. Much better than this blood thirst and sport that’s not working for our society
