A different take - When did your net worth pass $1 million?

It seems 90% of the OT make north of $100,000. A salary is worthless if you do not save though.
I was probably 40 when it all added up over 7 digits.
Some people living in better housing markets might have an easier go at this.
Key point, just living in a $500,000 house does not help if you still owe $450,000 on it

I am someone who was in the work force for just a few years, with a owned townhome, car, student loans, etc.
I felt like a millionaire just when my net worth became positive.

I'm 31, wife is 29.
According to mint, our net worth is almost $330k.
But we have very good company retirement contributions.

not yet, prolly be about 40 too. and yea this is a better judge,
oh and 90% doesn't make 100k, the only ones that post in those threads are the ones that do usually. also realize you are on a board that is centered around a school of higher learning with most on these boards either graduated from, attended and graduated from somewhere else or they donate to it in some form. Of course the number of people who make 100k is going to be skewed over the normal population.

"Net worth" is such a dubious factor, anyway. How much of that is liquid? How much of that is in retirement funds? How much of that is in the house?
And so forth. My liquid net worth will not get to $1m or more until I retire - I like it that way - keeps me hungry and disciplined so I will have an easier time in retirement. I was a dumb/late saver, plus a few "emergencies" put me behind about a decade or so.
Having stabilized all that - at approximately 50, I place my "effective" net worth at just over $1m currently, when you take into account vested retirement, retirement savings, cash, and relatively little debt. I have divested of individual stocks and equities outside of the index funds in my retirement portfolio. Should be closer to $1.5m, but like I implied, "$hit happens."

If we consider all property holdings, non liquid assets, age 18.
I do not.
I would say my net worth, minus all debt, maybe 60-80k liquid. I make less than that a year these days.
Honestly, I just want to go into a plant, work 12 years and retire. Or work for the state for 20 years and retire.
