I didn't know you were a Citadel guy. I pretty much live across the street from Johnson Hagood and have tailgated with the Stray Dogs before. I would've looked for your flag had I known you were there.

There actually is a single small bar in all of Provo called ABG's. It's a pretty nice little spot.
The Badgers played at BYU back in 2017.

“Financially, it's the biggest day I’ve ever had here,” he told the newspaper. "It was a wonderful thing. The people from Wisconsin are fabulous. They're the nicest, funnest people we've ever had here."
Another bar, City Limits Tavern, also opened at 10 a.m. to much of the same success.
“They (Wisconsin fans) were joking about trying to drink Provo dry," City Limits bartender Liz Burley told the Salt Lake Tribune.

I grew up Catlick . We were taught that a guy could turn water into wine.. We were also told that another dude could literally part an entire sea ... Guess it's "edgy" of me to question such tall tales though, right ?
Don’t forgot they turn a blind eye to priests that molest little boys. Just watch the downvotes from this post to confirm.

Serious question, and I'm not religious, but can you point me to posts or news stories where the common Christian turned a blind eye to or tried to justify or dismiss those actions?

Christian = Catholic + Protestant
We have many calling themselves Christians who do NOT follow his teachings.
We have many who call themselves Patriots who never put their *ss on the line in support / defense of this country.
If you are Protestant and not seeing same in your youth leaders, you are not paying attention. Been seeing it in the Baptist and Episcopalians for decades, only a matter of time before that dam breaks as well.
FWIW, a pedophile molest both sexes, and being gay does not make you a pedophile. A pedophile operates on power more than sex. They are predators and opportunist and small kids are easy prey.

I get the religion thing but I also think there is a correlation between drinking vs outdoor recreational when you live in a place with such incredible outdoor opportunities like hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, etc. you don't drink as much because you want to enjoy getting outside the next day and taking advantage of the opportunities with a clear mind.
I take it you have never been to Sewanee?
Beautiful place if you enjoy the outdoors but possibly the highest booze consumption in the SEC footprint per capita.

Didn't think they were allowed to eat ice cream???
Their youth culture is practically built around ice cream.

Doing college and especially football season in college without drinking would suck so much.
That was so much fun back then. I don’t regret any of that. I would feel like i missed out if i didn’t go through that part of my life

quote:They can have caffeine. The prohibition is against 'hot drinks' which they interpret as coffee and tea only. There are some hardiners, like my grandparents, that took it further to include all caffeinated drinks, but it's officially just coffee and tea.
I thought they couldn’t have caffeine either. Why are they having soda?

This reminds me of one of the big play on words that was used in a bunch of signs I saw last week. Their leader recently said not sports betting is allowed. One of the signs I saw said,
"ND defeats BYU?
Don't bet on it..."

quote:Yeah, the Jesus jammies are silly, but shunning isn't universal, or nearly as widespread as it once was. Several members of my family, myself included, have left the church over the years without experiencing any shunning. We still attend family gatherings, visit, call, and maintain perfectly normal relationships.
If you have to wear sacred underwear and you have to divorce the church and be shunned if you leave then it's a cult. Nonna will still cook for you if you stop going to mass. LDS aren't scientologist in that sense but they don't make it easy to leave the church.
Now, the missionaries are another story. Those guys will track you down at least once a year no matter where on Earth you go.

And I will add this. I've heard many of my LDS friends that grew up other places and moved here say, "There's a difference between Utah Mormons and other Mormons."

quote:Absolutely. I grew up 'cali mormon' and the Utah kids seemed insane to us when we'd visit. They grow up as the 'majority' so they don't have the 'off switch' you grow up with as a small minority. Anything we did they had to do just a little weirder.

So there should be thousands of articles, posts, videos, etc that would satisfy my request. I cannot find any so can you provide some?
Just a heads up, the progressive tactic of "keep repeating something over and over and treat it as fact" approach doesn't work anymore.
