What would the OT do?

7% more money, one week less vacation.

So only 6.5 weeks instead of 7.5.

WTF are you doing with 7.5 weeks vacation? I'd take that tradeoff in a heartbeat.

1. Do you easily use all of your vacation now, or do you have to look hard at when to take it?

2. Do you need the money? What would you do with the raise?

3. What is important in life to you? Do you want more stuff or more time with people you care about?

4. Does either position offer more upward mobility? Are you happy where you are, position wise?

In a way it's actually a decrease in pay per amount worked. Looking at changing jobs? I guess the question is how much you use your vacation time. Do you need that extra week or not? If not you might as well take the money.

It's not unheard of. I get 6 weeks of vacation plus 2 weeks sick time.

I'd be OK with it. 7% is worth way more than a week of pay. Can you take unpaid leave easily at your job?

Besides, 6.5 weeks of vacay lands you squarely in the #firstworldproblems category.

what type of work?

over 5 weeks isn't common. Teachers don't count b/c I don't think they get paid during summer break...or do they?

How you figure? 52 weeks in a year, each week is worth roughly 1.92% of annual salary. If you get a 7% bump and you're less a week vacation, seems like you still are up 5%- Am I looking at it wrong?

Oil and gas. I work in the office and it's based on years of experience. I've got about 15 in drilling and completions, counting field work.

7% of $15k per year or $150k per year? That matters.
