i would keep the vacation instead. I work at a place where i have been 5 years now and have 50 days of vacation built up and accumulate 14hrs each month of vaca time i can roll over yearly. I wouldnt trade my time off for $ but thats just me.

Most of the O&G companies up here moved to industry experience, mostly because of competition and how close the companies are. Devon, CHK, Sandridge, AEP, CLR, etc are all within about 15 sq miles of each other.

I could use the money (who couldn't?), but it will neither save nor kill me. House is paid for, cars are 10 years old reliable and paid for, and we have no real expenses yet.

Yeah, I'd say you've earned it. I'm sure you missed a lot of Christmases and family events in that time.

I came off the rigs about 5 years ago. I'm in the office now working a regular schedule.

That'me. I get 4 weeks and struggle to take them all "on the books". When I'm not traveling, I work from home and do as I wish with my time. However, I am a top producer, so no one gives me crap about it.

No, I looked at it stupid. I looked at as vacation decreasing a bigger percentage than pay increasing. Oops.

Similar situation at the company I'm at currently. From hire date you get 8 hours per calendar month of vacation plus 80 hours of sick days, and you can also chose to take unpaid time off. After 1 full year it's 10 hours a calendar month, 3 years it's 12, and after 5 it's 14 where it tops out. Even with that, I'd gladly take a 7% raise and lose 1 week of vacation, because with sick days I would be able to get that back anyway. Just gotta know how to work the system

9 years worth. Luckily my kids were born my last 2 years in the field so I haven't missed that much with them.

My old company started us at 14 hours a month accumulated. Plus 14 holidays a year.
