If I’m driving my car and some buggy merges in like that and forces me into the trolley line, that bitch is getting pulled off. In 1911, horse buggies were the equivalent to cyclists today.

I'd imagine horse shite detail on the ferry kinda sucked.

I heard Italian, and I think either German or Dutch? Probably both?

It really annoyed me that those kids just blatantly walked into a pile of horse crap.

The only black person I have seen, 4 minutes into the video, is the driver.

My Grandfathers taught the value of a good hat. In the winter wear a hat to church on Sunday mornings and on some special occasions. I have my Grand Pa’s last Stetson!

How about the mixed gay couple at the 2:16 mark? Or am I mistaken?

I know people like to romanticize the old days, but that just seemed like a miserable way to live.

Everyone has replaced a fancy hat with a smart phone.

Even then that city had almost 5 million people living in it.

My takes:
1. People wore a lot of hats then. And apparently the wind wasn’t as bad as it is now.
2. People (women) used umbrellas even when it didn’t rain.
4. People just drove or walked wherever they damned well pleased. Trolly be damned.
5. People walked funny back then. Kind of a saunter but more of an ambling mosey.
6. The laborer workers dressed better than most slobs in Times Square today.
7. Not one telephone. Not one insight.

That car with the black guy driving . I counted 7 people (not counting the driver) piled into that thing. It's safe to say that safety regulations were pretty lax back then when it came to the new horseless carriages

Were women not allowed outside?
Seems like everyone of those scenes had a 50:1 ratio of men to women

It’s pretty cool to see those skyscrapers from the early 1900s still standing today but New Orleans in the 2000s can’t even build one

The women were home taking care of the children. It wasn’t until WWI that it became common for women to leave the home on a daily basis.

Every climate/environmentalist should have to watch that clip to show how much better things are today vs then. The amount of exhaust and smoke makes the air look terrifying to breath. I’m sorry, but that era just looks miserable!

Every person in that video is dead. Humanity is such a fragile and short-lived species.

That actually seems really pleasant outside of the dress code. Nice and peaceful and no one dressed as buzz lightyear harassing you in front of the Times Square TGI Friday’s. New York is a hell hole now compared to that.
