You can call someone dumb for acting like 93 people have died in the last 24 hours, which is what is happening.

And so I ask you, how do you know that this is not the case? Just gut feel?

anyone that believes 93 people died with/from COVID in the past 24 hours needs to have their head examined.

the last time saw a single-day report this high was January 8, 2021 (105 deaths reported).

So 93 isn’t unprecedented.

It's actually common sense. Deaths from the weekend have been delayed in the reporting since the beginning of this thing.

Is there a link in this thread that is disproving this information that I'm missing somewhere?

Covid Dashboard

Go to the graph and scroll until you get to "Deaths by Date of Death"

There. That's how you get to the info.

Does the link say 93 people died, or that the deaths of 93 people were reported?

Contrary to what you seem to believe, these two are not the same.

With 2,800 currently hospitalized, we are reporting 93 deaths

Shows the medical community is full of shite around here with "delta variant is more severe!!!!!!"

We used to be able to see them backdate them and LDH used to have a disclaimer saying that some cases/deaths were literally months old and only added to the totals of the day.

You still can, but you have to look at the tab that shows the deaths on their dashboard. If you look at the far right of the image below, you'll see that only 6 deaths were reported for yesterday (August 9). I bet the number will be higher tomorrow.

I do not believe 93 people died of Covid as the primary issue between Friday and Monday. I refuse to believe that because its absurd. Make it a month, i still dont believe it.

They say more severe as in more transmissible.

Ignoring the fact that in real life more severe means more deadly.

Per the graph in my second to last post:

Date/Deaths:

8/10 - 0
8/9 - 6
8/8 - 17
8/7 - 26
8/6 - 32
8/5 - 35
8/4 - 31
8/3 - 30
8/2 - 34
8/1 - 29
7/31 - 25

Died with Covid or died from Covid? There would need to be autopsies performed on each to know without completely speculating.

Edit again: I never believed that 93 people died YESTERDAY .. I don't do twitter and there was no notation on the dashboard. And what the "media" will do is report it as 93 deaths since yesterday. I do totally realize it's not.

The "backlog" bullshite has fricked Alabama's numbers for months.

Right, but LDH used to give you a number of how many were part of a dump from months ago. They stopped doing that. The only way to actually know where the totals fall is to keep a running tally of that graph and see the difference from day to day. Obviously, the most recent dates will increase in time.

Deaths always lag behind a couple weeks. The majority of these hospitalizations have come in the last 2-3 weeks. I guarantee we will start seeing daily deaths reported far exceeding the 105 high. It's about to get a lot worse.

Would it seem reasonable to take the last 2 death totals given and just divide by 4 since 4 days worth of data. Obviously not perfect and doesn’t count for backlogs but might give us a closer approximation
