Don’t bully, also have thicker skin and don’t let haters get to you like that.

Both were wrong, and it’s sad either way.

This is the parents fault, bottom line. My younger children know what’s natural, and gay ain’t natural - especially at 9. My older ones are accepting of it, but still realize it’s not natural.

Why would you hope that?

As much as I wish it wasn't this way, the fact is little kids are assholes, and some things are better off keeping to yourself at that age.

I have a kid in 6th grade and I think that if she approached me and said that she thought she was gay I'd discuss it openly with her. I would absolutely discourage her from making any rash decisions at that age. And she's several years older than the kid in the OP.

s. Kids have no idea of sexuality at that age, they haven’t hit puberty so why would he be thinking straight or gay?

My mother is a teacher and will tell you kids are maturing faster and becoming more sexual at earlier ages each year. I graduated high school in 1995 and I don’t know that a single one of us had a beard to shave. Now it seems that ninth graders have to shave twice a day or else they get sent home from school, shite is crazy.

You are trolling.

You don’t think something in his life led him down the path to think he’s gay at 9 years old?

Where the father? Is he even in the picture? I bet if his father was around this kid would still be alive.

How does a kid in the 3rd-4th grade know they are gay?

a guy i knew back in elementary school had a younger brother that always wore girl clothes.
high heels, purses, lipstick.

his dad would constantly call him out on it and call him names in front of everybody.
he’s in his late thirties now and queer as a 3 dollar bill.

held out hope for him in high school though.
because he would go to all the slumber parties and shower with cheerleaders and shite.
but nope. even that didn’t turn him straight.

Something about that mom seems guilty.
She’s not nearly as distraught as she should be.

One of mine actually went through a short questioning stage around age 10. It lasted about six months. I took the route you described above.

We will never really understand this shite. Our explanations probably miss. Sorry for the little fellow.

He's getting the approval he needs from doing this. No way a parent can't put a stop to that. That was encouraged by someone whose approval the child sought.

Right. Just because a little boy has a crush on a girl it doesn't mean he has any real understanding of orientation. The crushes I had at that age were superficial in the extreme. I was like a dog chasing a car. I had no idea what I'd even do with it if I caught it.

Now imagine unlike all the other guys having crushes on girls, you’ve had a couple on other guys. Maybe you “come out” by saying you think that other boys are cute. And the learned behavior is shunning or mocking the kid that’s different.

can say that there is no evidence that it can be altered but that there are a lot of dead kids that proves it can't be.

Kids committing suicide is a big thing? Has it always been?

I would highly discourage my kids from "coming out" at that age. I suspect a parent encouraged it in this instance.

I haven't commented on "learned behavior". I believe the vast majority of people were born with their claimed orientation.

Ultimately, what’s the rash decision? As long as we aren’t talking sex change.... it’s not like you can’t decide it wasn’t for you later.
