Remember Planet Rock? First song I ever heard with that kind of sound. I agree, lived it, loved it. Turned 15 in ‘80

The 80's was the greatest decade to grow up. The music, the movies, the horrible fashion. We were more together as a country as it was during the Cold War & we all had one primary enemy, The Soviet Union, so we weren't all fighting & arguing with each other. We had a real president & the majority of our citizens loved America. There was no internet. It was a glorious time. And metal was huge.

I grew up in the 80’s and the romanticism with that decade is weird. There were some great things, and I look back fondly on my childhood, but there were plenty of shitty things. Homelessness explosion, AIDS epidemic, Iran-Contra, S&L crisis, crack epidemic, and on and in.

What is keeping you from that now?

The internet and cable news, and am radio jocks, have really warped people into thinking things are so awful nowadays.

I grew up in the 80s and agree it was the best… namely due to my point above.

90's > 80's by a wide margin in my opinion. Music and Movies isn't even a debate. Everything after 2005 sucks.

I like that but would slide to 69-79. Great time to be a teen and go to college.

You need to check out the violent crime rates of the 80s

80s weren't bad but 70s were a lot better

It's safer today. We just don't feel that way.

Now you can make an argument for how ignorance makes people happier as an argument for the 80s (or how access to reality on a wider scale has made living in that exposed reality more anxiety-producing), but that's different than what you're saying.

The 70's and 80's were definitely a better time overall. Not perfect by any means but generally people were happier and less stressed than nowadays. The lack of the internet so you didn't hear everyones bullshite 24/7 and no real cancel culture sure didn't hurt either

100% agree. No cell phones. No social media. Life was a lot better.

Wait what? According to your graph, crime in the 90's fell dramatically. The 90's were simply amazing!!!
