Read it 2 weeks ago. Every nerdy kid of the 80s should read that one. Movie coming out next year.

So many quarters...

Ring King was the only game I was top dog at. Could pop in a quarter and play for 45 minutes.

I think my favorite was Discs of Tron at Lakeside. The full enclosed space console.

Asteroids was at old Breaux Mart on Barataria Blvd in late 70's.

The Plaza Lake Forest had TWO arcades!

I remember when Lakeside had video games spread throughout the mall. You could play Pole Position then walk a couple of feet to PacMan. The 80s truly were the greatest decade.

Man vs Snake on netflix is worth a watch. It's about Nibbler and the quest be the first person to score 1 billion points on an arcade game.

I could play defender, joust and asteroids pretty much indefinitely but Tempest was my favorite. No other game has ever put me in a trance like state as much as that one. I’ve read that designer Nolan Bushnell designer it after a fever dream he had.

The sound and feel of an 80s arcade is a happy place I will likely never forget.

Around '88 or '89 or so I had a birthday party in the Alladin's Castle in Southland Mall in Houma. Which meant that I had free play on all the games best young kid birthday ever!

Although I still loved the Swamp, it always seemed more 'adult' since it was darker and decorated and the "bad" teenagers hung out there
