8 in 10 Employees Live Paycheck to Paycheck

Counting down to payday is a stressful, but all too common practice. Unfortunately, an August 2017 CareerBuilder survey found that the vast majority (78 percent) of the 3,462 full-time U.S. workers polled said they live paycheck to paycheck.

A January 2017 survey from Bankrate found that nearly 60 percent of the 1,003 Americans surveyed said they couldn't cover the cost of a $500 car repair or a $1,000 emergency room visit.

Worse, they said they hold off on necessary services -- like basic health care -- until they can afford it.

According to a March 2018 poll from NORC at the University of Chicago and the West Health Institute, nearly 40 percent of the 1,302 adult Americans surveyed said they had skipped a recommended medical test or treatment. What’s more, 44 percent didn’t go to a doctor when they were sick or injured due to the cost.

By a show of honest hands, how many of you do a monthly budget and have every dollar that you're expected to earn allocated to an expense before it goes back out the window?

Why is it so difficult for people to live within their means and live on less than what they make? Is this really a hard concept for the majority of people to grasp?

At what point is it not considered paycheck to paycheck?

ETA: And are you recycling threads? You've done one of these within the past month already.

New story today on Entrepreneur's web site. Plus, based upon nearly 8 out of every 10 people that we know, a "recycled" thread that brings attention to the stupid spending habits of most people is absolutely needed.

Someone's got to pay for all this shite. And declaring bankruptcy because of one's stupidity is not the answer.

Because they are all in airports thinking they should fly everywhere, and take vacations all of the time.

I never flew as a middle class kid. Not once for a vacation. Barely taken out of school at all.

But mid week in an airport, families everywhere clearly going to and from vacation. 4 people flying is over $1000 easily. Of course they live paycheck to paycheck and can't pay medical bills.

idk how many dont but i know a lot of people chose the low deductible rather than the high deductible with the HSA.

All i know id you people need to go read on the HSA loopholes. you can treat it as an other retirement account and a oh shite fund.

I live paycheck to paycheck. That though is on an every dollar allocated to retirement, savings, expenses, etc. basis. What I have allocated to leisure and such is what I have until next check.

What?

Are you suggesting the families flying aren't paying their fair share. Your post is all over the place.
