That's like 75-80k. That's way above the average and depending on where you live could be a very comfortable living.

True, I always default to thinking about Dallas. I'd have nightmares if we were $80k combined here.

My wife and I don't live paycheck-to-paycheck anymore but we don't have a large income, we are just really good at managing our money. But then again, we always have been.

In the late 90s early 2000 we were living off of 8 to $10 an hour. That's between the two of us. So basically like $16,000 a year. But we also lived in a dump in a shity neighborhood for $300 a month that we got on discount because I renovated it myself when I wasn't working, we drove a $2,000 used Honda Civic they got great gas mileage and never needed repairs, we ate surefine brand mac and cheese every night from Save-A-Center, etc. We didn't have any disposable income for like 3 or 4 years straight.

There was a period in time when I was living by myself making $12.50 an hour, paying for my cell phone, internet, Electric, other utilities, rent was 750 a month, car insurance and I still had a little money in my pocket at the end of the week to do what I wanted. So yeah, I don't really feel sorry for people who live paycheck-to-paycheck.

Most people aren't willing to sacrifice like this and that's why they never get ahead. People living paycheck-to-paycheck I don't feel sorry for. Every single one of them lives that way because they put themselves in that situation and they're not willing to do the things necessary to have disposable income.

frick all that. Reality is, a lot of people get sidetracked by a giant medical bill or totaling their vehicle or a dozen other unexpected, large bills.

Sounds like you were just poor and while that’s the case for many people, others get derailed by unexpected shite and it takes a long time to recover.

Take home is $4100. Meaning after taxes, healthcare, etc. It's probably around $75-80k.

4100 take home monthly? That’s like 77,000 a year, no?

Depends if they’re claiming married and zero. But if they do that at 80k they probably get a huge refund come tax season

Like half a plant operators income. I don't get how they survive.

Maybe my calculations are off but that’s effectively a 25% difference. Withholdings shouldn’t be near that for a combined income of $4100 a month

Depends on HSA, IRA, 401 contributions too if you want to truly consider “take home”

Which would be dumb. $4100 a month combined is more like $65k a year
