These two ideas are diametrically opposed to one another.

Assigning government the power to punish people for their words is the antithesis of conservatism.

Well, you're wrong. Protecting the safety and well being of citizens is one of the few powers that conservative ideology ascribes to the state (e.g., the state is allowed to have a military for defense). But, then again, I am not really trying to get into a philosophical debate about the principles of conservativism.

I won't ask you to attempt to explain how criminalizing "hate speech" protects the safety and well being of citizens.

Because it doesn't.

Jesus, you liberals keep finding ways to show how retarded you are. We understand you have a mental illness. Just give it a rest.

'm pretty sure the ones who refer to liberals as "prog filth" would send us to camps if they could. It has gotten pretty bad over there. The norms have shifted to outright hostility, regardless of the board's actual ideological makeup. Just a perspective from one of those you folks claim to welcome.

The poli board is just the opposite of any number of liberal message boards. Ever visit reddit? The liberals there also talk of civil war. They want to beat Americans with bike locks and pretend they’re fighting Hitler. WWII vets are so impressed by your ilk.

"Two burning tigers on fire in the night"

My father has always said he wants a painting depicting that scene.

The Poli Board is barely readable anymore. Hate speech is out of hand there. I would guess some of it is even borderline illegal

Absolutely crazy to think shite like this happened in the world.
And less than a century ago. Like, within the lifetime of folks who are still alive today. The fact that we're so close to such mayhem historically is amazing.

I wondered if any PoliTards would see my post and indicate an appreciation of the song.

I'm pleasantly not surprised that you were the first

Your father has a fine sense of imagery. I've always loved that line myself. Strange thing, I was never much of an Al Stewart fan - I don't own any of his albums, and today was probably the first time in 20 years I'd listened to "Roads". Only other song of his that I like is "On The Border".

Naturally

When I was younger, that song was actually what piqued my curiousity in studying Guderian, who few know much about since it was Rommel who seems to have been the much more famous pioneer of blitzkrieg. "Riding the wind like a bell; general Guderian stands at the crest of the hill".

I always liked his song Nostradamus too. My favorite one in that song is also about the war
