That’s the crazy thing - they didn’t even need to capture Stalingrad - just hit, keep it from being a military concentration point and move on to the cacauses. Hitler got caught up with defeating the city with Stalins’ name since the appearance would be so important.
IMO it was Hitlers biggest blunder. Scary to think that he made several huge blunders and it still took everything the world had to defeat him.

Now now. I do agree the recent political times have pulled some true colors, but the mods can’t control the percentage of bigots on the poli board.
I don’t put much true energy into it. I only pop in to stir the pot/troll to an extent. There is zero logic when you mix in angry racism and the sense that they’ve been persecuted by Democrats......I get the anger from the Obama administrations fricked up agendas however.

Solid OP. Well written. One small detail though. This....
... is slightly incorrect. His name was Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Paulus. He was not from any sort of nobility. Thus, he did not have “von” in his name.

No, you're misinterpreting me. True conservatism, with its emphasis on limited government, is fundamentally opposed to the ideas of Naziism, which calls for government control of just about everything.
As someone who has posted on the Poli Board for nearly 15 years, I am well aware that the board has traditionally been conservative, and that most of the posters over there could be classified as such. However, there has been a noticeable shift in the last two years in which a new breed has become more vocal. They are a minority, but they are very vocal. Hate speech is their MO, and their ideas are more authoritarian than conservative. They are more interested in forcefully upholding the status quo than they are with protecting ideals of limited government.
Thus, you have created and attacked a straw man argument that I never made.

I'm pretty sure the ones who refer to liberals as "prog filth" would send us to camps if they could. It has gotten pretty bad over there. The norms have shifted to outright hostility, regardless of the board's actual ideological makeup. Just a perspective from one of those you folks claim to welcome.
