Wasn't it the Romanians that dropped the ball on the Axis flanks? Not that it would've mattered.. Supply lines had gotten way too thin and Russian winter said hello.

Yes. The Germans were using Romanian formations on the flanks of 6th Army and the Soviets knew it. That’s where they hit. The Soviets hit and virtually destroyed as cohesive formations the Romanian 3rd and 4th Armies. You can look it up under the Soviet code name for this Offensive “Operation Uranus”.
