I’m impressed you e got the guts to rock climb. I hate heights and get freaked out on the first rung of a ladder. How did you get started?

And are both highly reliant on grip strength so I'm not sure why both are necessary.

I was thinking the same thing. Replace one of those with something like a 90 second plank

Wow! How old are you? I could not even sit into that position without falling the last foot or so. And I do yoga about five times per week, so I’m about as flexible as I can get, which is still not very.

1. 10 minute mile
2. Squat your own bodyweight
3. Deadlift 1.5x your own bodyweight
4. Complete 5 unbroken pull-ups
5. Be able to do the sit and raise test
6. Complete 25 unbroken pushups
7. Dead hang for 1 minute

I replaced the FC with deadlift 1.5x your own body weight and reduced the dead hang to 1 minute

I think this is a better test for "if you can't do this you should really re-evaluate your health"

*Note: this should be easy for anyone is decent shape, as that is the point

I’m mid-40s. It doesn’t apply to me.

I did stand there holding a 225 deadlift this morning, and I got about 10 seconds before I had enough.

Yea, that is probably more reasonable. I don't hate the FC, but it should probably be like 60-75% of your body weight for a minute to maybe 90 seconds.

The free hang, if you are in great shape is one that even if you have good grip strength, for that long, there are some things that just may give out and there is such a variance there when it comes to body weight. Not saying it isn't a good goal to work for, but I'd say 1 minute is a far better gauge of "do I need to re-evaluate myself or not".

The FC is a decent core exercise too, so it does have some added testing importance. The metric they set it at though really is making it solely dependent on your grip strength. A tweak to it and it is a good one to have on there.

That's actually pretty good really. A 1 minute test would have been more appropriate honestly in relation to the difficulty to the rest of the test.

10 minute mile? Seriously? At 60% effort or so I can walk a 15 minute mile.

if y'all ever want to suffer, do a 1 mile farmers walk

even if you go light (like #15), you will barely be able to hold anything by the end

4 MPH is your 60% effort walk or 60% of your total effort?

Either way, thats either a lie or a horrible brag.

If a 15 min mile (4mph) is 60% of your walk effort, than you're 100% walk effort would be about a 9 min mile

If a 15 min mile is 60% of your total effort than your 100% effort is still only a 9 min mile

So, you're either a race walker or you have top end speed of a 9 min mile

I have a torn Labrum in my right shoulder. I'd say that's messed up but what do i know, it's just my shoulder. You're the expert here, just a rando on the internet.

I’m 43. My brother did it also and he’s 36 and 230 lbs.

As a person with a barely normal BMI I don’t find a 2 min dead hand to be extraordinarily challenge.

It’s uncomfortable, but I tried today and was able to hit 2:05 without really digging deep.

Like most of these tests, they are fun and interesting ways to look at general fitness. This one seems to really penalize overweight people.
