My wife said she was speaking with someone we know the other day (an older, rather frail, but seemingly intelligent man), who basically said he hated Trump, and that all Biden's current problems were just things he inherited from Trump. She didn't even try to reason with him, it wasn't worth agitating him. Some people refuse to believe the truth when it's staring them in the face.

I want to meet the 34% who aren’t worse off. Maybe they can give a fellow worker some financial advice.

Dr. Anthony Fauci's net worth is up $5 million since 2020.
Even liberal rag Yahoo is reporting this

How could you not be unless you are a professional sports player or a CEO?

Most professional athletes and CEOs are worse off as well except for anyone who got a raise/new contract. They may not have any trouble paying bills, but they are banking less money after bills are paid than they were a year ago because the prices of everything have gone up

I don’t see how anyone has ever been able to afford a divorce but I damn sure don’t understand how the past 2 years.

I paid off all my loans during covid and right after it. I did not buy a new car or anything like that. I have not taken any vacation apart from brief car trips for three years. My neighbors, who never saw a new car or trinket they could not do without just splurged (and took a cruise). Now I have money, they do not and I bet you anything they are complaining now about their difficult circumstances.

Kudos on your sound fiscal planning.

But it doesn’t have to be like this. The crappy economy we are now experiencing is absolutely the result poor policy decisions by the current people in charge.

It’s 100% self-inflicted.

I went from VERY comfortable and building up my savings every check to having to stick to a fairly strict budget and pick up a little OT here and there just to maintain.

I took 18 credits of 3-400 level classes last Spring while I worked full-time before graduating in May. I then left my job for another that I hated. We decided we were moving a couple months ago and I felt burnt out. We had enough savings for me to stop working and remain unemployed until we move.

If I've read this correctly, you're heading to an interview for what you hope to be your third new job in a year and a half, you're currently not working, and moving to a new city where you're relying on your wife's overtime to cover your bills and you've already assumed youre getting the job you havent even interviewed for yet?

Correct.

Correct.

Incorrect. Just answered this earlier. Read some more.

Incorrect. I don't see anywhere that I've said I assume I'm getting the job. All I've said was that I have an interview.

So, no. You're not reading correctly. Two out of four is about par for the course in Louisiana, though, so I have no doubt that you thought you did read correctly.

Yeah no shite working class people are struggling. The economy despite what biden and his press secretary are saying is in the tank and inflation is thru the roof. But it's a small price to pay to have peace of mind that the mean orange man and his tweets aren't in power any longer.

I canceled Netflix and Planet Fitness this week. I'm in that group.

I didn’t subscribe to YouTube TV or Hulu and only catching football games that are over the air or using illegal streams.

I didn’t buy a piece of furniture or a new bike that I planned on buying this summer.

My disposable income I had disappeared. I’m not going into debt but I have to watch my spending closely. My rent is obscene for a 1 BR apt. I picked a terrible time to not be a homeowner for the last 5 years.

The belt has been tightened.

Some people with lots of bloat in lifestyle just won’t give up getting their nails done weekly or drinking $6 beers at bars.

I was given a big raise right before the pandemic. I thought $150,000 a year would finally allow my family to be very comfortable. We’re still having to pinch the Pennie’s like crazy.
