Unless they pulled a gun first. I am not saying they did. I can't tell from the video.

Whether they actually had a gun is irrelevant. The issue is whether a reasonable person would have felt threatened. Under those circumstances, I certainly would have.
It's relevant to me, but that's me.I'm not arguing law. If they don't have a gun and are backing away I'm not sure I can justify shooting both here.
Feeling threatened is good enough to shoot both? Need to understand why he felt threatened. As in exactly what was going on here. It would make sense to me if the first guy was pointing a weapon. I hope we find out soon what he was doing or what he was potentially holding.

speculation but that leads me to believe that they had all had a previous encounter

It did look like they were going to blitz him, but it also looked like they had backed off some along with 2nd guy shot not being a guy who came at him. They also could have been doing something fairly innocent. Would have to have more info.
1st still stayed kind of close and head turned back so possibly could be seen still a threat if ever really one, but the 2nd shooting victim had never gotten that close to shooter and was not the one of the guys who went at the shooter.
Even if in heat of the moment after turning from first shooting he mistook the 2 victim for the second guy who approached him that second approacher had moved well away and the victim again was never that close to him including when shot. He should have been seen as far enough away without some other kind of trigger like reaching for a weapon, but that still leaves the fact that he wasn’t the second guy who approached the shooter by his bike.

55 year old lifeguard sounds off to me right from the start. But I guess you can't let teenage girls do it at public pools anymore.

if he works for the city that might be a cushy gig, I think LA city or county lifeguards can top out in the low six figures

They'll let somebody drown so they can film it for tic tok

Does dark shirt guy have something in his hand?
Posted on 6/29/25 at 2:33 pm to beauchristopher
Why would the youth aggressively approach the man while he’s busy fixing his bike tire?
You think he was just soliciting donations for his basketball team to go to nationals?

I love how they do everything possible to frame the incident as "child" vs adult and the child was acting purely out of "fear" and not like the typical Chicago 14-21 year old violent POS.

Thank you, Paul Harvey.
Now we have the rest of the story.

I was more concerned with the near certainty of them being raped by "teens".

assuming that's not fake, the lifeguard enforced the rules, his job, kids complied and got to swim but saw the need to antagonize the lifeguard after the pool was closed? not saying that warranted getting shot but will ultimately be filed as FAFO
