I found this graph from the article interesting.

I think it's a misconception that all liberals are like this. I lean left on most social issues, and know many others who do. None of which I would think would agree with the subject line of the OP.

I'm 31, though. I do think the new age liberal is much more left than myself and liberals of the past. We really are approaching a scary level where these kids prefer full blown socialism. It's definitely alarming.

The Walton and Johnson segment where they sent their guy to a college campus to ask about Socialism was great. Everyone they asked was 100% for Socialism until they were asked to "give" some of their GPA to students who were failing so everyone could be on equal footing.

The consistent answer as to why they shouldn't: "I worked for that GPA and they didn't."

They are clueless as to what Socialism actually is.

The 17% difference is what is worrying

DL Hughley, love him or hate him... Said it best. And I am paraphrasing "Having free speech means sometimes people are going to say some shite you don't like".

I don't agree with hate speech, but they have a right to say it..

But to be fair, a lot of people don't support the 14th amendment.. when it comes to all of this abortion business.

I'd be willing to bet they don't really have a problem with hate speech. They just have a problem with people who don't hate the same things they hate.

Unfortunately, had they done the slightest research they could have combated that argument pretty easily with the whole "progressive reforms" to capitalism approach.

But they don't understand what they are even calling themselves.

College students are idiots. We really shouldn't care what they think.

1) They can still vote
2) They don’t stay in college forever.

So yes. We do need to be concerned.

This type stuff is 100% nothing more than a way to not allow white folks to speak.

I’d like to see if there were similar polls from years past. Is this a new revelation? Or have young people always leaned liberal?

It tends to swing back and forth. My gut instinct is the brighter the future seems the more conservative they are (think of the go go 80's) when the future is bleaker they tend to be more liberal (late 60s early 70s).

The problem is that most of that 41% believe that anyone who disagrees with them is engaging in "hate speech."

I imagine that's fairly close to the gen. pop.

Free speech should be all inclusive so we can easily identify the nutjobs. See the mom's basement boar.. err, poli board, for exhibit A.

Sounds close to the percentage of kids getting humanitarians degrees and wondering how they will ever pay off their loans with their future 33k a year salary.

Seems about right.

Just WHO gets to define hate speech? What a slippery slope that would be.

Wow that is a hate speech. You questioning the banning of hate speeches should be viewed as a hate speech.

Except they don't vote in large numbers and a lot of their opinions on things will change when they get a little older, have families and a career.

The Supreme Court already ruled on this 8-0 a few years ago.

The 41% of college students who have a different opinion don't matter. SCOTUS has spoken and it is final.

41% of college students apparently can't grasp that polite speech needs no protection, in the first place.
