I hear so many people say, "I carry it hot, one in the pipe." That's stupid, just like down range you should carry based on threat. If in a high threat area, yeah locked and loaded, you're in a low threat area (which is likely 99.99% of the time), unloaded. Even better, mag out.
This thinking is incredibly naive. There are threats everywhere. You never know when something is going to happen in a "safe" place or in a "unsafe" place.

thought it made obvious sense. If you're driving down the interstate, no need to keep one in the chamber. If you catch a blowout or breakdown, of course load it.
Wtf?

Or, don't leave a gun where a child can get to it. A concealed area when you're alone or with an adult that knows guns is fine, but with a 4 year old that thing better be on your body or in a safe.

Yep, like nobody is going to have issues seeing a dude or woman lock and load a pistol in a car.

Turn your gun into a worthless item you are carrying

I live in a very nice area, but work all over Houston. This isn't the thread to get into a debate on every day carry. I'm all for not feeling it's necessary own a gun, all the way to carrying daily. However, if you have a firearm around, it's your responsibility to manage it safely. From storage to knowing the laws, to being proficient in using it.

But how else would the bad guy know he fricked up if he can’t hear the “ch-ch” of the slide like in the picture shows?

Same with handguns. Kids learn quickly, at a very young age, If you carry, it is necessary to teach your children, no matter how young they are, gun safety.
Many of them learn by touching the stove after being told not to touch the stove. That’s how this one learned, too, in a very devastating way.
This baby JUST turned 4, based on Facebook. It’s our responsibility as parents to both teach AND mitigate risk. I’m not shitting on the parents going through the most horrible experience imaginable; I’m more annoyed by the posts from people suggesting you can simply tell a toddler “don’t touch” vs mitigating the risk until they are old enough to be responsible for their own safety.

should be jail time - the hell with "he has suffered enough" kid deserves justice

I am not a mom, but I do understand adult responsibility. There is absolutely no reason a toddler should gain access to a handgun, with no supervision. How does a child even have the strength to lift and fire a weapon? Seems like a terribly bizarre incident.

I didn't realize how many people were running around carrying a weapon everywhere. I support your right to do so anywhere and anytime you please but I really just don't get it. I've never felt the need or desire to walk around with a gun all the time. And frankly, I think it's really weird. They don't make you safer, at best it's a security blanket.

I will take Evil Little Things word.

Well, that is simply false. Hundreds of times every day they are correctly and safely used to deter crime or provide self defense.

Personally, after having the police take 2 hours to get to me when I live 5 blocks from a substation after a dude broke into my house in the middle of the night I realized the state doesn’t give a frick about me so it’s up to me to defend myself.
I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it, you do you though.

That's exactly the point of concealed carry

Thank you. But you're not paying attention to the violent world around you regardless of where you live. There's bad people who do bad things. I'm not a vigilante I just want a fighting chance should someone mean me or my family harm

Congrats on never being able to meet a threat with at least equal or superior force. When did being prepared become weird to you?

Now THAT"S a weird take.

Gun was in a holster in a glove compartment.
It wasn't laying on the seat.
It wasn't in a center console.
Hell if it was a blackhawk holster, I don't see how it could be released. And yet... It was. And tragedy.

Rule #1
4 yr old in a vehicle should be buckled up in a car seat . Then we never even get to this point. Child must have been alone, able to move around in the vehicle unrestrained to be able to find a firearm “in a secured location”.

Carrying a pistol in a holster everywhere you go? That’s a bit overboard.
ETA. Unless you live in the ghetto

Tons of people do it and you never even know.
Violent sitatuations happen everyday but don't necessarily get media attention because they don't involve a NFL player.

According to the best data, they do. I know, you aren't well educated or honest enough to do objective research on this topic so it's not like you'll ever get it anyway.

Safest and most responsible way to carry concealed. Overboard? Maybe to those that are naive and lack awareness.
