Don’t worry 08, ellishughtiger, and the rest of the NOLA apologists will be here with excuses and to dump on the surrounding areas.

Destroya is doing such a bang up job of cleaning up the city.

Counterpoint: the only “incident” I’ve ever personally been around on bourbon was a fist fight in front of the 700 club - ie this same block, around 2010
Counter-counter point..., you stupid.

Shh, you're not supposed to talk about that. lol
Obviously what is going on is some drug dealers have moved onto that block.
Note where the shootings take place on Bourbon and where they don't. Someone asked me recently about Mafia owned clubs on Bourbon and it's true - shootings aren't happening outside of those clubs. The dealers know better than to pull anything outside of that area.

AKA, if some something doesn't change, NOLA stories like this could sincerely affect sports tourism.
Maybe NOLA could get some high profile athlete or organization to help promote the police and try to help the city from loosing Tourism...
but then again.
and here is a little news story to go with it....
nfl-wont-let-cowboys-wear-decals-supporting-dallas-police-in-regular-season/
and then you get shite like this too....

I don't think it's necessarily all drug dealings; I think it's mainly trigger happy morons with low impulse control that can't handle their liquor, get into arguments over stupid shite, and go ape shite on everyone in the area.

I think it’s already here. It started slowly after Katrina and it’s gotten worse every year, especially the last 2-3.

A couple of months ago I commented on the regularity of shootings on Bourbon these days and was chastised by several posters who said it is a rare occurrence and nothing to be scared of. I stand by my original statement.
Your original statement is correct.
There is a very serious problem with crime in the Quarter that is worse now than I've ever seen it. City leaders have talked with business owners and other stakeholders in the Quarter so many times now and there seems to be no real urgency to fix it.
Yes, NOPD numbers are low, but the real issue is that NOPD officers make arrests, but the judicial system doesn't hold the pieces of shite and within hours, they're back on the street.
I used to enjoy going to the Quarter for drinks here and there, but I haven't been in months, and I see no reason to return.

Just please tell me they were tourists and not gang bangers. The best NOLA shooting stories is when it's someone in town for a convention or vacation so they have lots to tell their friends about when they get back home.

this town is a fricking disaster
