You’re getting downvoted by you aren’t wrong.

She would’ve been at home even with a positive test.

The timeline doesn’t fix, there was another problem or some medication issue to cause a “drop dead” scenario. No one is found at home dropped dead from this

Also I will say that I am doubtful this was directly COVID-19 related. It just doesn't seem to fit the timeline. People with minor symptoms aren't dropping dead. They have severe respiratory issues and die 14-21 days later.

It does if the infection caused an ARDS attack at home.

No clue about the veracity of the story, but it’s not the first time we have heard this story play out.

100%. testing is irrelevant

only critical patients are getting critical care

yeah there will probably be some elderly who were forgotten who are found dead in their abode, but that will be after a long time (week+) of being ignored

yeah it's possible but would be an extreme outlier, and it still makes her testing irrelevant b/c she still wouldn't have been given critical care

This is a sad story and likely related to COVID-19, but what, exactly, would testing have done?

They would have put her on the right medication immediately had she taken the test when offered and she would be alive today. That’s what could have been done. Doctors are now automatically assuming you have it and putting you on a medication to stem the progression of the virus

I was told that’s a totally myth both two different doctors. You are going to see stories like this increasing by the day. It moves like lightening.

Looks like she should have gone to an ER or urgent care after her PCP said it would be a week for an appt, instead of self treating w herbs and whisky

I mean maybe it’s a myth that it doesn’t happen at all. But the average death occurs 18 days after hr virus hits. And the average age of death is still over 70.

Unless this thing has mutated a 39 year old dropping dead immediately is an extreme outlier

she felt "something in her lungs,
this seems like someone made this up to fit the narrative. if she felt that why didn't she go to an ER?

sad story.

yeah we don't have a ton of "science" right now but we do have a good bit of data, and this "Quick death" scenario is incredibly rare (if it even happens)

Although it sounds like she felt symptoms for almost 10 days. The dying without time to get to the hospital is rare, but upon reading the actual article it sounds like her timeline is likely around 15 days after getting the disease. Which is pretty inline the progression numbers

Oh I agree.

It doesn’t change the story. It’s a bullshite fake outrage attention grabbing headline.

But it’s worth noting if this does have the chance of rapid ARDS attacks, however small, then you are best served not being sick alone at home.

Or at least not to play around and push through a sudden turn for the worst.

She didn’t drop dead, she passed out and potentially spent hours struggling to breathe on the floor

Dr. Deborah Birx, coronavirus response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, does not agree with you.

he said the dearth of tests shows how ill-equipped New Orleans is to handle a pandemic that has already claimed 16 lives and infected nearly 600 people across the state.

It’s New Orleans fault that 16 people died and 600 are infected?

100%. testing is irrelevant. seeking emergency care for truly critical needs is super important

the author is a shitty author for sure

i do think Nola is going to have an outlier-like death rate though b/c of the underlying demographic issues (rates of HIV/AIDS, diabetes, smoking, etc.)
