I have a solution that would cut gun murder at least in half
Black males under 40 in possession of a gun get 20 years in jail.
I mean if the 2A is pliable then this would make as much sense as anything to address the insanity

IMO, obvious retaliation from prior ongoing disputes. Shooter decides to get even with intended victim who was an easy target at a school function with no anticipation of gun violence. I'm sure the DA will not prosecute and will drop all charges since this fine young scholar deserve a 15th chance to turn his life around. Sadly, the next intended victim will result in a murder that could and should have been prevented. Such is the daily life of the N.O. judicial system.
edit: was typing prior to seeing the post about the innocent elderly victim. RIP Ma'am .... from celebrating her grandchild's HS graduation, to now the family having to plan a funeral for the matriarch.
Until the death penalty and capital punishment is strictly enforced to the fullest extent of the law, nothing will deter these animals. Criminals/murderers have zero fear of the law and are often times allowed to plead to a lesser crime only to serve 8-20 yrs. My solution to this problem: Have the prisoners build a Roman-like Coliseum, let the convicted murderers & death row inmates fight lions, do a $20 PPV with proceeds used to educate our youth, and show the video to ALL middle school kids confirming what happens if you take someone's life.

The difference between the criminal element in cities and white trash rednecks is that rednecks live in rural areas. If you put a bunch of fifthly rednecks in the city, they would be doing the same shite... Or maybe not.. Because they rarely graduate HS.

How about any crime committed with a gun is an automatic set of years. Take your pick on the time frame behind bars. I'd probably consider 20-30. No release for good behavior or overcrowding. Applicable to all in U.S. whether they be legal citizens or anything else.
