The men forced everyone in the restaurant to lie on the floor — pressing their guns to the heads of many of the 15 and 20 people there, counting (owner Leon Touzet) and his employees — then took everyone's individual purses and wallets as well as the money in the cash register," Uptown Messenger reported. Leon went on to say "The man in the mask yelled 'And now with the handing over of the money and they wallets and the purses and OY it's a scorcher in here. Why not with the turning up of the AC?"
Dude. This shouldn't be a joking matter but I cannot stop laughing. Well done. You get 150 Internet points.

Same here. I'm seriously laughing at the AC comment.

Looks like it's time for a return of a strong presence of La Cosa Nostra in NOLA. When the businesses can't get protection from the police, they will turn to somebody.
Probably won't happen now, but it's the type of scenario where it would have in the past. Just sayin
I've hard a couple of old timers mention this. How long ago was everything NOLA mafia run? 50s? 60s?

t took an officer 4 goddamn hours to finally get to us.
that's not bad at all. I've heard of people saying 6-8 hours before. My last fender bender in NOLA, I just exchanged info and left. Not worth waiting for a cop there.
People laugh about Kenner but we have a two minute response time for 911.

It's too bad Marcello died in the 90s. We could really use a man like him.

My fiancé got in a fender bender on broad by the courthouse. She called 911 and they said if no one was hurt and they weren't blocking traffic they wouldn't send an officer out and she should just deal with it. I shite you not. 911 told her they weren't sending anyone and to just deal with it.

Not sure what's alarming about that. The cops are way short handed.
Welp, you'd think armed robbery would go to the front of the queue.

It's changed cuz the cops can't do their own hit squads anymore
Yep. Mitch forced out all the old school cops that had the connections and know how to keep the crime in the ghetto and out of uptown.

Patrons said they were alarmed by how long it took for police to respond to their 911 calls.
They were too busy organizing their DWI checkpoint.

I just read a few pages of this thread and people were saying force local government to up police. My question is who would want to be a police officer now days. Literally most of the black community hates you, many in the white community and if you use legal force you will still have to move if its a black person.

With that stolen item from last week, NOPD has done absolutely zero with it. Haven't even put it in the pawn shop registry. Won't answer or return calls. The woman who took the report even used a report number that was already in the system for another crime
Waiting on insurance money right now, but it would be nice to pay off my house insurance and have enough left over to buy a second item if they found the first

Do you still have to be a NOLA resident to be a NOLA cop? This might have ended years ago. I try not to stay up to date on NOLA news.

You have to be a NOLA resident to work any job for the city

I don't believe this is the case anymore, at least for police. I think they relaxed this requirement to try and get more police applicants
