damn, idk how somebody could drive away from something like that. He is worried more about himself than killing some kids.

i would bet he was high at the time or had drugs on him and and panicked knowing he needed to get rid of them.

he most likely got home and then realized there was no way to hide the car or what happened and only then what he did sunk in

These sorts of accidents involving volunteers picking up trash, doing walks, etc along highways happen too many times. The highway is no place to be walking near.

Post last night, not sure if it was true or not, about a buddy of the OP who was " hammered" and hit a telephone pole, yet was upset that nearby neighbors were detaining him til the cops showed up.

That really pissed me off too. And some posters were agreeing that he should leave the scene to avoid a DUI. Who knows what or who else that idiot hit before slamming into a pole. There was some terrible advice in that thread and it was quickly whacked.

The consequences for leaving the scene of an accident are almost as bad as DUI because obviously most people that flee are intoxicated or have warrants. If injury is involved it’s a felony.

It was still dumb advice because the neighbors were obviously going to tell the police when they showed up that he fled because he was drunk.

Again, posters who were encouraging him to flee should have considered that he may have actually hit people or other property last night before the pole stopped him. His “friend” may not have had or told us the whole story.

The witness probably gave the Lyft driver’s info to the cops anyway. He was probably easy to catch and I bet this morning he was in jail looking at DUI with an accident plus leaving the scene.

With a wicked hangover and hazy memories of last night. Nauseated, dehydrated and facing having to tell work that you got a DUI and charge of fleeing the scene of an accident that weekend.

The sentence should include picking up trash along the highway every day for as long as he's in prison.

That’s a pretty risky activity for Girl Scouts to be doing. Save that crap for DWI criminals like this POS.

It’s amazing how many people are hit on side of the road. It’s like they are a magnet for drunk drivers. It’s really sad for those girl’s families.

This happened to a bunch of Ole Miss Chi O's back in the 80's doing some sort of charity event for MS Kidney Foundation. They were walking along Hwy 6 just outside of Oxford and were plowed into by a truck carrying a hay baler, killing 5 or 6 of the girls. I was pretty young at the time, but it was absolutely sickening and affected everybody.

There is this thing called proof in the legal system. Just because a neighbor said someone was intoxicated proves nothing.
