This is true partly because we have outsourced our heavy industries to them. If you make that map of pollution based on consumption instead of production it would look very different.
It amazes me how many people miss this point. We did our fair share last century

Would be easy to frick that up if our military ever needs to.

It's China, it'll probably fall down on it's own.

Don’t they know green energy is the future
They do...they also know that if you kill a man in a coal mine its no great loss to society. Environmentalists take the credit for coal use slowing in the US but it is actually coal mine operators finding it hard to not kill a bunch of employees and remain profitable....

Are you saying we should pollute more like China or India?
I think we're saying that we shouldn't destroy our QOL, economy, and future to kowtow to enviro-whackos with no clue how much climate change is man made, how much the US specifically is causing global climate change, and who cannot quantify the impact of us reducing our emissions NOW...all the while China is giving zero fricks building a new coal plant every 2 weeks.

To put this in perspective. China added 47.4GW of coal in 2023. They also added 301GW of renewable (solar, wind, hydro), with 216GW being solar.

There are 770 bridges with a total length of 381km and 229 tunnels totaling 468.5km.
Damn, that's quite a project. That would take us at least 100 years to complete with all of the red tape and climate activists

Look at the fricking smog.
I've been to Shanghai and i've been to Los Angeles.
Shanghai is cleaner than every single large city in America and it's not even close. Not a single piece of litter can be found anywhere.
There was no smog and I was able to take pictures of the skyline. We drove 2 hours outside of Shanghai and felt like half the vehicles were electric. In cities it's scooters everywhere.
I went up to the Hollywood sign in LA and could barely see the skyline to take a meaningful picture there was so much smog, not to mention the trash and shite everywhere in the city. Just a disgusting city i have no desire to go back to.
I'm not saying China doesn't pollute a lot, but when i see a report that says Shanghai has worst air quality than Los Angeles, I realize how much of what we see as "science" is bullshite.
I know that the factory we have in China is being moved even further outside Shanghai than it already is b/c the chinese gov't doesn't want industry like that near the city center, which keeps expanding.

The science agrees with you. Houston is worse than both. But China has some cities that beyond their global ranking have really shitty air quality.
Air Quality ranking

Wow that's a lot of steel and concrete. China Construction probably could build a new 12 lane I-10 bridge over the Mississippi River ,next to the existing one, in a couple of weeks .

And Joepotato, and his band of dicklickers, wants us to stop using our water heaters. This country is upside down. WTF

But "the west" is the problem and China just gets a total free pass. Please, someone, explain why that is?

They shouldn't, but the only straight faced argument is that they're still a developing nation. One thing to consider when assessing this data is that China has 2X our emissions with 4X the population. There's a lot that goes into that since we're a fully developed country compared to them, but the per capita emissions for the US is quite a bit higher.

That's like 30miles longer than NO to ELP. This definitely isn't done if "green energy" is the dependable energy source of the future.

China has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world but they are the undisputed GOAT of building giant eyesores
