Any OT baller's planning on getting a bottle? Suggested retail of $1800 but only 700 bottles being released most expect them to go for 3 times that.

I was disappointed when I read it was distilled in the same place as some other brands.

Nobody in their right mind would drink it. It's like wine, you pay for the rarity not the taste. I doubt it tastes any different than 12 year pappy, but if you can sell it for 15k 10 years from now, by all means.

The pappy brand is terribly overrated. Don't get me wrong. It's a good bourbon. But you can definitely get better quality stuff for a fraction of a bottle cost.

Owned by Louisiana Company. Another Bill Goldring brand to the hundreds of others he owns.

It's pretty smooth mixed with diet RC cola.

I'd buy it all day at retail. Would I open it? Nah. While wheated bourbons (like Van Winkle) take the age better than most, it is very rare that I enjoy a bourbon aged for 20+ years.

Yeah man, buffalo trace, just like every other bottle of Pappy. Why would this be a disappointment? The location of the distillation makes no difference.

Eta: I stand corrected. This was distilled before they moved to buffalo trace. Either way, it's the mash bill and the aging that makes it unique, not the distillation process.

Bourbon is overrated. I think woodford is expensive enough while also being able to sip with strangers.

Its all gut rot in the end.

It might be a good time to buy some Christmas presents for my house staff. If you buy throughout the year, you don't have to rush when we get close to the season.

Bourbon is what real gentlemen drink. Scotch is for new money and poors.

I'm pretty sure this still isn't Stitzel-Weller juice, but I can't find anything that says for sure.

This may have been the last free standing "on-the-shelf" retail bottle of Pappy Van Winkle in Baton Rouge.

And I had a chance to buy it and passed. (Read through to the bottom of the thread)
