Anyone know where to find some Pappy Van Winkle? Had this in Kentucky not long ago and it was awesome.

The 23 year old is the only one worth buying. Unfortunately it's hard as hell to find. They don't make much and it's gathering a cult following making it near impossible to find. Great bourbon though. The 12 and 15 year are meh. The 23 is superb.

Not gonna find it until later next year... Even then, you'll probably need to know someone. PVW demand has gotten stupid.

Buy yourself some Jefferson 18, practically the same bourbon.

Is PVW really that good? I've been hearing people orgasming over it for years. I've been pretty content with my Four Roses Single Barrel. Am I missing out?

Great taste, very smooth, but just enough burn to remind you that you're drinking bourbon. For the price, I haven't found anything better

ETA: Game is currently going well, so I'm still on beer tonight

Trois Pistoles

Most reputable liquor stores carry it. You'll just have to find one that still has some.

I don't agree with this. If you can find the 20yr old it is in my opinion the best value. I found a bottle last year at the National Championship game for $142 they had the 15 for $90. Kind of surprised to see it still on the shelf with that many people that had been through there.

well no shite you don't agree with it. It's an asinine statement. They are all good, and the 15 yr is a GREAT bourbon and under $100.

The 12 is a great value. I think the 20 was rated a 99 by the beverage tasting institute whereas the 12 received a 98. Nothing to shake a stick at. And the 23 is amazing but I'm not sure twice as much as the 20 year amazing.

PVW has gotten insane and the local distributor here in Tampa tells me a number of major retailers have pretty much given PVW an ultimatum that they will quit carrying the Sazerac products alltogether unless the allocation process changes. The major retailers contend that based on volume of related Sazerac sales they should get the lion's share of the PVW release. Apparently PVW has got caught in a trap of trying to please everyone with each release so that most get something but few get more than a bottle or two. The major retailers believe they should be getting most if not all of the release.

He told me the most unenviable job on the planet is the guy who determines who gets what when PVW is released. To be sure they wont please everybody and get their asses chewed 365 days a year from upset vendors/retailers.

Why is it PVWs problem? It's not. They dont have to change.

Their only problem is the true Pappy Van Winkle is about to run out and they don't have a legitimate replacement.

It's Sazerac's problem if the major retailers decide to quit carrying Buffalo Trace and Sazerac products due to PVW.

Sure Sazerac makes some money off of PVW but I'm sure that PVW makes up only a very small portion of its total sales when you consider the multiple bourbons, whiskies, cognacs, vodka, gin, cordials, wine etc that Sazerac also owns.

I'm not in the industry, just conversation with a neighbor thats pretty steeped in the bourbon/liquor world.

I know the Bourbon House has it..... whether or not you willing to pay what they want for a 5th or if they would even sell it to you is another question.

It was $27.50 for a 1/2 oz shot.

There is one bottle of PVW OLD FAMILY RESERVE 20 year old at Calandro's on Perkins @ Siegen.

I just saw it, asked about it, and was told it's $220. As of 4:10 pm. It had been there at least a week.

I ain't spending that much on bourbon.
