What i found most interesting was the electronic tracking devices used. I know they had dye packs but not tracking systems.
In 18 they had 3378 robberies and only 1938 people were caught. 35 percent where high on narcotics and 27 percent had previous financial crimes.

Now it's just GPS on a special app using satellites. Secret Service has jurisdiction over bank robberies too btw.
Bank robbery now is one of the least successful crimes there is. Sure the robbers leaves the bank with some cash, but they almost always get caught, or at least the money is found.

Not enough money to risk it. Also, They are getting caught at a 60 to 80% clip. Chances are of those 3300 robberies and the 1900 caught, were repeated offenders and involved in multiple robberies. Some of those caught committed more than 1

Bank robberies are intentionally not publicized. But as has already been said, they are very rarely successful. And if you try to pull anything bigger than “empty the drawer” of one teller and peace the frick out, your odds of success are functionally non existent.
I’ve represented quite a few “bank robbers” over the years, and literally every single one was someone passing a note to the teller, saying they had a gun, and asking for the money in the drawer.
