You fricking tard

Why do you think the first serious mod people do to Jeeps is to stretch the wheelbase? Jeeps are used more off-road because of nostalgia.

The only reason shorter wheelbase vehicles are perceived to do better off-road is because they are lighter than their long wheelbase counterparts

Show me what part justifies that a longer wheelbase isn't better. Approach and departure angles? Oh gee whillickers, how would those angles improve if the wheelbase was stretched? Shorter wheelbase vehicles are less stable and more prone to get stuck in a single mud hole.

Eta: you can have the breakover angle part, but that's it

The biggest problem with longer wheelbases is the breakover angle. But that can be overcome with suspension lifts and tires.

Approach and departure angles are a wash and don't have a thing to do with length.

Yeah, I was more making a comment about the displacement.

Going from 6.2 to 3.5 is pretty big jump.

I hope your joking. That isn't shite for a turbo V-6. I have 3.5L V-6 that make over 800hp at the crank.

+1 - most of the advances in engines over the past 25 to 30 years have been in 6 cylinder configurations.

The old adage: "No replacement for displacement" has been replaced with advantages of weight you don't have to carry and cylinders that don't have to fed fuel and air. Particularly as fuel economy standards have tightened.

Ford put me in it while they are fixing my truck.

Crazy.

No, I had decided to go ahead and take my truck since we weren't bringing the dogs.
Took the truck in for an oil change and hit a snag.

I'd like to see a 3.5l v-6 that makes over 450 hp.

I'd like to show you a car with a 2.9L V6TT that makes as much horsepower as a 7.0L LS7 last-gen Corvette Z06, and 92% of the torque. It's also achingly gorgeous.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
505 hp, 443 tq.
An honest-to-goodness 6-speed manual.

There are two replacements for displacement.

Revs.
Turbos.

Who did your tune? I'm pretty sure mine is north of 450 but I haven't (and don't really plan to) put it on a dyno.

Where in the power band will it make all those #s? 8,000RPM?
My '87 Turbo Regal maxed out at about 3,500. There was a bit of lag but that was in 1987.

Mated to the Raptor’s engine will be the first application of Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission and a new four-wheel-drive transfer case, which will work with a terrain-mode system to configure the truck for varying conditions (mud, snow, rocks, etc.)

Why do I have this feeling in 2020 the OB will be full of Baws bitching about tranny issues.

It was awesome.

Corvettes and IROC-Z's were no match for that thing.

Glad I got an F-150 w/ the 6.2 L V8 before the pussies of America decided a V8 was a waste.

Had an ecoboost before and the drop in power I had in mine at random times on the road was inexcusable. I'll never drive one again.
