No amount of new laws will stop this, but it's a very safe wager properly enforcing and sentencing for EXISTING laws would help.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A 2-year-old girl remains hospitalized in critical condition after she was shot in the head on New Year’s Eve in Baton Rouge, police said.
The shooting happened along Harding Boulevard in the Scotlandville area around 2:45 p.m., according to Baton Rouge Police Chief T.J. Morse.
Morse said the child was riding in a vehicle with her mother when the woman spotted a car she believed had been stolen from a family member. Police said the woman began following the vehicle.
At some point, Morse said, a suspect got out of the vehicle, pulled out a gun and fired several shots toward the woman’s car.
Around 4:15 p.m., Baton Rouge Police told the media that the child had passed away, but got clarity afterwards, saying the child is still in critical condition.
“Unfortunately, one of those rounds went through the vehicle and struck the 2-year-old that was inside the vehicle,” Morse said.
After the shooting, police said the mother drove several blocks to the District 4 police precinct on Scenic Highway, where she pleaded for help.
Surveillance video from a business across the street shows the vehicle pulling into the parking lot. Smoke can be seen coming from the car as emergency crews rushed in to assist the child.
Councilman Anthony Kenney, who represents the area, condemned the violence and said leaders are committed to finding the person responsible.
“I strongly condemn this type of violence in our community,” Kenney said. “We’re going to make sure we work with every law enforcement agency to get to the bottom of this.”
Police said the suspect remains at large. Anyone with information is urged to contact Baton Rouge Police or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.

I thought Gary Chambers represented the area. We need to hear from him after he's done speaking out about convenience stores.

Is one person of a particular race shooting at another of the same race disrespectful? Gravy is to busy bitching about some cashier not doing his job the way Gravy thinks he should

God please bless this child

Unfortunately, even if this child makes a full recovery, they still have no chance in life.
ETA: I opened the thread praying it was a story like this and not a random 2 year old of a productive member of society. As if this poor 2 year old’s life is worth any less. It’s just sad all around.

If I'm by myself, I dial 911 and follow.
If I'm with my wife, or child, I dial 911.
In reality though, that shite is never gonna happen to me anymore.

This is horrible and happens far too often in the shithole parts of the city. Prayers that the child makes a full recovery.

Let’s bookmark this statement so when something similar happens again in a couple of months we can tell if the politicians were at least creative enough to change a few words in their bullshite statement.

Just don’t understand why a mother with a child in the car would follow. Senseless tragedy that could’ve been prevented with some common sense.

There’s a little more to the story. Your title makes it seem random.
She was following a car she believed was stolen, the guy figured out he was being followed and got out and shot at her car.
She put her child in a horribly dangerous situation

When I first heard about this my first thought was the kid found a gun in car or someone in the car accidentally shot her.
Everyone in the car that did the shooting needs eternal imprisonment.
