Some folks just arent wired in a way that allows for a belief in the supernatural. It can be lonely place to be for some but its not a switch that can just be turned on. What you said sounds just as weird to them as if someone told you just have to have Santa Claus in your heart and you will never be lonely.

I'll tell you what a 99 year old man once told a teenage me (and other teenagers).
When asked if he was afraid of death, he said.

If you live long enough, you will be in the same spot as this man.

When he was 60, by the time he was 75 most of those friends were also too old for meeting often.
By the time he was 85 he was a widower.
By the time he was 91 he was in an old age home with dementia.
If you live long enough you will be in the same place.
As will I.
But when that old man looked at us, he wasn't alone, he wasn't fearing death, he was ready to stay or go at the will of God.
He was never alone and he knew he would never be alone or without purpose.
He never made it to 100, but he was not disappointed.
