Sorry...Top 8 national "boating event"

quote:

The largest unsanctioned boat race in the US, named one of the nation’s eight “must-see” boating events according to Powerboat Magazine, the Shootout will take place for the ninth year at Captain Ron’s Bar & Grill in Sunrise Beach (Lake Road 5-50, mile marker 34.5). The event raises funds for eight Lake-area rescue teams and numerous other charitable organizations; last year, $175,000.00 to 31 different Charities and Fire Departments. The Shootout is alive and well and looking forward to the 28th year in August of 2016

In what world is it worth the risk though? Dumb.

Here's video of a nearly deadly crash at this year's Lake of the Ozarks Shootout which I happened to be at. I saw this crash occur from about a quarter mile away:

Y'all realize that boat was going at or above 200 miles per hour, right? They hit the water at 200 miles per hour which probably killed them on impact or at least broke every bone in their bodies before the boat landed on top of them sealing their fate

they were dead when the tip of that boat hit the water. The G forces was enough to rip them out of the cockpit, straps, bolts and all. They probably experienced 15-20 g's of deceleration with a helmet on, they were internally decapitated instantly.

Looked to me like the boat landed where they did. Good grief that's horrible.
