No...it's certainly one of the most famous boat races in the country, but thanks for trying.

The largest unsanctioned boat race in the US, named one of the nation’s eight “must-see” boating events according to Powerboat Magazine, the Shootout will take place for the ninth year at Captain Ron’s Bar & Grill in Sunrise Beach (Lake Road 5-50, mile marker 34.5). The event raises funds for eight Lake-area rescue teams and numerous other charitable organizations; last year, $175,000.00 to 31 different Charities and Fire Departments. The Shootout is alive and well and looking forward to the 28th year in August of 2016

Y'all realize that boat was going at or above 200 miles per hour, right?

Not that one. Those little drag boats can but full sized boats like this one can't.

Going 200 on a public waterway?!? They deserve to die. Well, at least the pilot anyway

guess we shouldn't even bother linking up a Top Fuel hydro going 300mph should we?

If one of those boats catch air going 200+ miles per hour...the likelihood of survival is incredibly small. The racers know the risks ahead of time.

didn't al copeland's life insurance policy forbid him from driving his cigar boats so he had to put them on display instead?

How about the three boats at the end anchored near where the boats pass by?

Why would you be that close?

I have turned down rides in go fast boats twice.

1) frick that speed on the water
2) the owners of those boats are usually so egotistical that they forget common sense

I can do 68mph in my Ranger...and that has me puckering. All it takes is a rogue wave from a crewboat that you don't see or a log floating right under the surface to turn your world upside down
