That's what I was wondering. If it is where the theft took place or the wreck.
I just want to be clear because I heard several stories. But my comments are based on an Addis police hitting the kids and the people who were being chased was eventually stopped on the Miss. River Bridge.
He will be charged in the jurisdiction in which the crimes occurred, which is why he caught home invasion in EBR and manslaughter in WBR.

The smallest bit of reading will tell you the chase didn’t end on the Mississippi River bridge. It ended pretty much at the LSU lakes.

Was there not enough for an aggravated burglary charge?
Wouldn't that let them up the manslaughter to Felony Murder?

If you don’t have permission to have something - then it’s stolen
Words are mumble jumbled in courts so either little Tyrone or Braxxtyn (depending on where you are) don’t have to serve too much time for being little shits

I guarantee they got video of the crash. They got cameras all over that intersection.

Safe bet the alleged criminal should have already been locked up and not walking freely among us.

One of the cheerleaders brother was in the back seat and is in ICU at the lake. From what I heard, he has no memory of the wreck

So, the release says the officer caused the wreck, yet you think it’s “speculating” to say the officer is at fault.
Causation and fault are two different things dude...

So two teens are dead because it was necessary to have a multi parish car chase because some thug stole a family member’s car? There needs to be policies in place to aid law enforcement in these decisions. This happened a couple of years ago in Hwy 61. Young guy was killed as a result of police chase that really wasn’t needed. The police officer today was from a different agency who was trying to catch up to the pursuit…so he wasn’t even ‘in the action’ when this happened. Yes, none of this would’ve happened had the guy not stolen a car and fled, but I think there are times when law enforcement can be too reckless. This was one of those situations. The police officer and his respective agency probably will be held civilly liable, and the theif should be held criminally liable.

I back the blue and he was doing his job.
Was he though, or did he act recklessly trying to catch up to the chase?

This is correct.
One is a criminal matter.
The other is a civil matter unless the DA decides to press charges against the officer. I think this will end badly for the police officer also.

Editing this as the initial news report was incorrect and the video showed the Addis cop was the lead car.

Sad. Criminals that flee should be liable for any damages and injuries that occur during the chase.
They are if directly part of chase

The brother is awake and alert - will have surgery in the morning. My kids are Brusly high students and friends with these two families. There is 100% video footage in that intersection - we've seen it from previous wrecks. This is heartbreaking.
