growing up in brusly, the whole stretch of highway 1 is just brutal.
there was no need for the addis police to join in when there were already enough police force.

We have a lot of definitive statements in here with an article that doesn't have many details at all.

Two 17 year old girls. Seniors at Brusly High.

A stolen car is not worth two lives sorry. The cop may be in the wrong here. I’m all for putting criminals in jail but if I lost two family members to that dumb shite I’d be pissed at all of them including the cop.

The driver was 17 and a junior at Brusly, the other fatality is a 15 year old Sophomore also at Brusly High. Both on the cheerleading squad.
The drivers brother was in back seat, he was rushed the hospital with a punctured lung, is currently in stable condition.
My daughter is also a Junior at Brusly and my son played baseball at Brusly with the brother that was in the back seat.
Incredibly tragic day for the families and this community. The kids that knew the girls are rocked to their cores.
One of the families lives down the street from me and I saw tons of kids and various people going in to see the family.

The driver or rider of an authorized emergency vehicle, when responding to an emergency call, or when in the pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law, or when responding to,

LA Rev Stat § 32:24 §24. Emergency vehicles; exceptions
A. The driver or rider of an authorized emergency vehicle, when responding to an emergency call, or when in the pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law, or when responding to, but not upon returning from, a fire alarm, may exercise the privileges set forth in this Section, but subject to the conditions herein stated.
B. The driver or rider of an authorized emergency vehicle may do any of the following:
(1) Park or stand, irrespective of the provisions of this Chapter.
(2) Proceed past a red or stop signal or stop sign, but only after slowing down or stopping as may be necessary for safe operation.
(3) Exceed the maximum speed limits so long as he does not endanger life or property.
(4) Disregard regulations governing the direction of movement or turning in specified directions.
C. The exceptions herein granted to an authorized emergency vehicle shall apply only when such vehicle or bicycle is making use of audible or visual signals, including the use of a peace officer cycle rider's whistle, sufficient to warn motorists of their approach, except that a police vehicle need not be equipped with or display a red light visible from in front of the vehicle.
D. The foregoing provisions shall not relieve the driver or rider of an authorized vehicle from the duty to drive or ride with due regard for the safety of all persons, nor shall such provisions protect the driver or rider from the consequences of his reckless disregard for the safety of others.

Yep If cop didn't have sirens and/or lights on or if a jury finds he acted in reckless disregard for the safety of others, the police department is on the hook civilly
