usually I oppose this kinda gov meddling and intervention...but I like this. I think of it as having to pay extra to be an a-hole to others

Thank you Chairman Xi and China for giving our elites the motivation to smash the plebs.

What's so insane is that our own population is pushing us toward a Chinese form of governance. I wonder how many Americans have immigrated to China. There are a shitload of Chinese that seem to think we have the better situation over here.

Chinese Immigrant Population in the United States

quote:

China is the main source of foreign students enrolled in U.S. higher education, and its nationals received the second largest number of employer-sponsored H-1B temporary visas in fiscal year 2021, after Indians. Chinese nationals also received 54 percent of the 2,900 immigrant investor visas issued in 2021.

The United States is the top destination for Chinese immigrants worldwide, accounting for about 28 percent of the 8.6 million Chinese living outside China, Hong Kong, or Macau, according to mid-2020 estimates by the United Nations Population Division. Other popular destinations include Canada (930,000), South Korea (803,000), Japan (776,000), Australia (764,000), and Singapore (514,000).

Like every law they will slowly decrease the levels to bring in more money. What about semi’s and delivery trucks? A protest?

We all know where this leads and none of it is good. Much easier to make changes once its law. What you are happy with today you won’t be tomorrow.

I strongly support this. No reason for these assholes to act like its LeMans when they are going a 10th of a mile at a time driving their over-engineered v6s (or 4 cylinders…)

But I thought it was "the city that never sleeps"

That's what I'm saying.

Pretty much any other city I understand these measures. But a city that size and with its reputation as being a "24 hour city" this seems off-brand.

Acoustical measurements are not straighforward. But I’m sure the statists are taking a break from stealing and are all studied up on their boundary value and condition math problems to know this. Notice how bad manners just ruin everything for everyone.

“Noise cameras” that detect souped-up cars, motorcycles and other loud vehicles are coming to a street near you.

A new bill authorizing the cams, authored by Councilman Keith Powers (D-Manhattan), is expected to pass Thursday.

Under the measure, the cameras would activate if a vehicle reaches at least 85 decibels from 50 feet or more away.

It's pretty much the opposite for the very reason you state.

After the pandemic, you now have lots of outdoor dining and drinking on pretty much every street in the city, especially Brooklyn. Makes it even more annoying that some cars (and motorcycles) find it necessary to annoy everyone in a 2 block radius from them.

Personally I love the idea of doing something about loud arse cars and trucks. It has always been against the law, used to be up to a cops personal judgement and how hungover / pissed off he was...at least this thing is based on an objective measure. I would also much prefer getting a ticket in the mail from an unarmed postal worker than dealing with a cop on the side of the road in traffic who may or may not be too scared to direct traffic at church on Sunday without a gun on his belt. Finally why on earth would anyone not like a way to make cops jobs safer while saving the city a shite load of money in salaries, benefits and tools to do the job. Cameras are on the job 24-7, never get sick or need personal time. They could, if used properly, free up cops to actually prevent crime instead of writing tickets AFTER the fact or arresting people AFTER the fact and preventing crime should be the goal....

Good. Tired of some vehicle pulling up close to me and my windows start buzzing and vibrating. Who really enjoys listening to that shite anyway.

Not gonna lie. I hate loud vehicles. Cars mostly. Hurts my ears and I already have severe hearing loss. Hurts when a stupid car pulls up next to you and there's nothing you can do

Will this pickup gunshots? Maybe that's the real plan and the cameras cover the sidewalks too, but they don't want to be labeled racists.
